But, it's around the same price to get another 2.5 SVT engine.

You can find the 3L engine for around $500 bucks. Then you will need other parts and the price of the install.
 
They have a few. Might have higher mileage though.
You can get one there for under a hundred bucks. If you go on an "engine special" week it's even cheaper.
 
There are plenty of 2001's up there.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;)

I'd love to do a 3L, but for now I want to keep my car original, matching numbers.
 
True. I'm trying to keep it original for the most part. I understand why you want to do it. :cool:
