What's up all. Looking for a little knowledge from you all. I was wondering if anybody has ever done any bench testing of the sunroof motor and if so how have ya gone about it. I am not an electronics guru so not sure where to start. My problem is the motor has stopped workin and it never gave any signs of even being weak. Just really curious if it could be something simple to repair in the motor itself or even the switch. About a year ago i did the auto open mod and have never had any trouble with it and motors from ford are 200 bucks. Somebody guide me lol. Thanks Chad

Most likely, your plastic (white) gear is stripped up. It is placed in the motor housing, which is metal, and bolted to the roof, which is metal. All the heat from the sun softens that gear and it strips smooth.

There was a FAQ and a how-to for inspection of this... I'm sure its around.. I'll look.

hey Chad, do you happen to remember where you got the info. for the auto open..the wiring for that isn't in my manual..check the classifieds for a replacement motor..there's usually 1 in there somewhere..thanks..G.

Hey all thanks for the input. I have the motor out of the car and it is not he gear it is still all in one piece. What does concern me is with the motor in my hand with power to it still if you hit the open or close button aand watch the gear it only moves about a quarter turn then stops. Makes me think it more along the line of the solinoid looking thing on the motor might be bad? I know there has to be an electrical engineer watching this that could give me some insite Chad
