How many boosted v6's do we have

to be honest, i'm going to see what i can do with my car as it sits and a sweet tune. its got every bolt on i can get now minus some UDP's which i'll try to get soon enough. if i can get an impressive number (anything over 230 on a high-reading dyno is amazing to me anyways) i think i might keep going for naturally aspirated bliss, then just put another 100 shot on to keep the smack talking to a minimum. we'll have to see though....

Reebs man, it was nothin personal. I wasnt directing that towards you. plus, i didnt know Ray was running that high boost as a dd. my bad man. also i forgot we were talking about 3L's. i have ADD.. im just a kid with a 2.5 with some bolt-ons wishing i had the money to buy some boost...

am pretty sure he didnt take it personal. reebs isnt like that. he was only trying to correct u about ur statement about csvt having forged internals. hence the consequent posts and pictures on the self-destructive nature of our pistons. get it now?

I know it wasn't personal. No big deal. And alot of us guys run 12psi plus on a stock 3L daily. :) Even Rawburt has run 12psi for many many miles on his original 2.5L with 130,000 miles or more and I believe he has the early piston ring lands as well because his car is a 98!!!

I do have stock internals, running anywhere from 10-14PSI daily and I don't drive it as easily as most would. ;) That's 23K miles at an average of about 12psi.

Now, I DO have an oil leak either at the turbo feed, or possibly the feed tube itself, as evidenced by the oil on the bottom of the car that I am looking at fixing now, but that has nothing to do with boost levels..

:)

Thats right. 7psi is boring. Honestly 12 got boring :ponder:

Its a early 99 fwiw.

12 psi got boring because you need more 3L. :)

And didn't the early 99's still have the early piston ring lands? I thought only a few late '00's and all the Cougars then after as well got the updated ring lands?

the CSVT internals are already forged from the factory.

Please don't post things you just made up. CSVT pistons are cast hypereutectic (as shown above, lol) and CSVT connecting rods are sinter-forged powdered metal, not anywhere near the same as a traditionally forged rod.

Yeah, but your 22 got you a 13.06 @106 where our 14 got us a 13.20 @109. :) I can see why 22 would be boring!

:D :D :D

I only say that because I WISH I could run more than 15-16psi and that makes me feel better about it.. so there.. :)

so will the stock rods in a 3l hold up to boost? nothing crazy like 12-16lbs.

Of course the stock rods will hold up to boost, but as I mentioned earlier, only up to 14psi would I consider safe for daily driving... I don't think I'd ever turn a Contour up past that anyways because it just isn't needed! 14psi on a 3L is enough to get you into ALOT of trouble! Anything over 14psi on stock internals is getting very risky, but when another 3L is only a few hundred bucks, risk away my friend!

You can get over 400 to the wheels on stock internals, just a matter of how long it will hold up. :) I believe Ray's car is stock internals and also that he dynoed at over 400 at the wheels...

I just mentioned his 3L has I believe stock internals and I believe he pulled those numbers around 14psi which he used daily for a long time, not just a dyno pull or two.

Yay for reading the entire thread...

:D :D :D lol

And I think 22 is boring... it never ends.

Unfortunetely thats true. I remember when I first put the boost controller in and turned it up to 12psi. I said I was satisfied, and would just keep it at that... A couple weeks later it felt like the same old 7psi.

well the kit came with an 8 but I decided I wanted to go with 3. The MBC that I got has a cable so that it is adjustable from in the cabin. Also I wanted more range of control over the boost. So instead of having 8 to 12 I know have 3 to 12.

btw I have the same tune you do at the moment
