i know, some of you may say, go search. and i did. but...i am confused.
msds headers, optimized y-pipe, stock resonator and main cat vs. all stock contour...what are the gains expected from this set up? i know many people say 15-20hp, but is this correct? and the most important, i guess, is if these hp gains are at the wheels or at the flywheel???

why I ask?
well, i have a 98 csvt, my friend has a 99 csvt. before installing headers, we pulled both cars along eachother. we rolled with about 10mph and floored both cars at the same time in 2nd gear. that way, we wanted to compare the two cars without having many variables (driver's error, slipping clutches, etc). The two cars stayed exactly next to each other during the whole time.

so...i install msds headers and we did the same test again...same results. WHY? although I must say I feel difference, the car is much more responsive and seems to be quicker, but in reality, it is not. i have the mils done and no MIL lights. he on the other hand has a MIL light for a downstream 02 sensor, which he is too lasy to change...but that shouldn't make his any faster...duuh.

upgrades..

upgrades..

Well when I did the msds headers, exhaust replacing stock resonator with the magnaflow one etc. BAT K and n kit. I thought I had more power. Not until I had Pro Dyno tune it did I actually see the power I thought I had.
The base run with the mods on it showed me a 164 fwhp and 160 torque I think. When Dan got done working it all out, without adaptive tuning turned on, I had 181.4 fwhp and 174 ft lbs torque. It pulls a lot harder with the tune in it than without it.

well i did a test. i removed my superchip module, car seems to be a bit slower, and then i put back in, seemes more aggresive. is that equivalent to the pro dyno??? although i've done everything on the tour, i am not really familiar with the tuning/ecu/xcal stuff... all i know is that I have a module which is burned from the factory, and is plugged in my ecu...maybe someone has to enlighten me on the issue without too many technical terms.
how much is a tune up like that?

wait wait. so you are saying that after all the mods you only dynoed 164whp and after the tune up, you dynoed 181.4? isn't the csvt like 165whp stock?:(

Sorry

Sorry

looked at the dyno graph again, started with a 168 fwhp and running rich as crap and a 151 ft lbs torque. end result 181.4 fwhp * still rich due to bad o2 sensors hence adaptive tune is off at this point. and 171 ft lbs torque.

Not to mention had better drivability better idle characteristics etc.

Have to find time to make the 2 hr drive this was on a mobile dyno jet btw.
my gas mileage did increase close to the stock 20/28.

Just curious did you reset the ECU. It could be running under the old values. It may need to re-learn with the mods installed!

I Did Not Notice A Gain From Replacing The Resonator With A Magnaflow Unit It Just Sounds Ricey And Louder And It Did Not Give The Car A Deeper V8 Mustang Sound I Wanted In Fact It Went The Other Way To More Of A Tuner Sounding Exhaust.

I Did Notice A Gain From Replacing The Fuel Pump With A Focus Svt Pump In Combination With My Other Mods But Not Buy Itself.

The Headers Are Suposed To Gain 5-10 Hp At The Wheels .

The Optimized Y-pipe Is Good For Maybe 5 Hp At The Wheels And MakeS A Noticable Difference.

The Pro Flow Maf 75mm Did Show Minimal Gains In The 4k Rpm + Range But Suffered From Stalling Out When Returing To Idle After A HealthY Run Throught The Gears Sometimes 40% Of The Time This Happened So I Swaped Back To The Stock Maf Meter And The Drivablity Was Much Improved.

Big Gains Were Had From The Superchips Xgt1 Chip I'd Say About 5-10 Whp Varying Throught The Rpm Range. The Extra 750 Rpms Don't Sound Like Much But Makes A Huge Difference Shifting At 7k Rpms Than The Stock 6,850 Redline
Fuel Cut For The Superchips Is 7,500 Rpms

No Gains Noticed From The K&n Filter

These Are All Measured On The Good Ol' Butt Dyno I've Never Had The Car On The Real Rollers To See For Sure.

B&m Short Shifter Is An Good Mod To Have.

With All The Bolt Ons Installed Is Definitly A Faster Car But I Doubt It Runs Much Faster Than 14.8 Seconds In 1/4 In The Georgia Heat And Humidity.

When Its Very Cold Out Side I'd Say Under 50°f Out Side The Car Is A Monster And Seems To Have Even More Power With The Same Mods From The Denser Air. HOWEVER THIS ONLY LAST FOR A DAY OR TWO IN GEORGIA AND THE REST OF THE TIME THE CAR IS SLOW.

Over All The Contour Svt Sucks !!! Ya I Said It.

My "TUNED" 2.5L (with very minimal mods) put down more than a 3L on the same dyno. Tuning is one of the most important mods and least often done.

You can't just throw crap on and hope the car will just magically figure out it's new timing and fuel settings for the mods.
