I want I want I want

ok. granted the car has a nice interior...but you can get an SVT for a little bit more depending on where you look.

cute car, but not worth it imo.

depends.

If I found a MINT young american for about that price, I really wouldn't mind one as a daily driver.

however CSVT>young american ANYDAY

...

...

i know a guy in my town that had one, i went over ther a few weeks ago to ask him about it... he said he took it to the junkyar because he got a new car and didnt think it was worth anything. car was perfect nothing wrong with it. did any other mystique come with white wheels??

Sorry. I know you dont really care but I would rather have a car thats more rare than an SVT. Its not just a "nice interior". If it were that I honestly wouldnt really care. I like the look of the older Mystique's. Also, in ten years this car will be a little more desireable than an SVT. No im not downgrading the SVT. But this car is more rare either way.

i would only want on of those for the interior...i dont care if its rare or not...the thing is ugly as hell ALL WHITE?!?! wtf seriously are the seats in there black? if so i would black the thing out.....then again this is only my opinion.....opinions are like a-holes, everbody has one and they all stink

i really think a carfax is horribly inaccurate. i ran a car fax on my old car before selling it and it came out clean. it has been in one MAJOR crash and 2 smaller ones. 2 should have totaled it but Allstate must like me. so i now don't trust carfax

Seats are white and midnight blue. (or Atlantis Blue maybe? that was the pre98 blue color)

There are a few CEGers around here that are getting pretty experienced at swapping transmissions, I know Aircougar has done quite a few. I'd swap ATX->MTX, get a 1998 dashboard bezel and have a nice rare car.

Couldn't of said it better! That's EXACTLY what I would do if I had one.

And yeah, it's Atlantis Blue. Which I think the Young America was the only Atlantis Blue with leather. Everything else was cloth.

its defiantely Atlantis Blue as it matches the interior of my mystique

These YA Mystiques remind me of the FILA Thunderbirds (anyone else remember these?):

Rare, Yes. Desirable, No. No one knows what YA are and how rare they are. They just see it as another mystique. And there isn't a real "demand" for them either. If there was, that car wouldn't have been sitting there for as long as it has been....no matter what condition.

Those were great! As was the elan. Best of all, though, is the Turbo Coupe -- I'm really fond of the '84s, as they combine the older dash with EEC-IV. One of these days, I'll find a cherry one.

Throughout history, its not terribly common for special editions whose modifications are only aesthetic to be worth much. To wit, buyers aren't lining up ten deep for Diamond Jubilee 1978 Thunderbirds, or 1981 Lincoln Mark VI Givenchy editions.

Another thing that hurts in the classic market is the presence of four doors. A great example is the 1957 Chevy Bel Air. Two door cars are very well thought of, and turn plenty of heads on Woodward Avenue and elsewhere, but the four-doors bring a fraction of the money. One of the reasons for this is that the four-door is viewed as an AARP staff car, whereas the two-door is perceived as cool.

I've never much worried about my four-door sports sedans, either the SVT or the SHO, becoming classics. This works for me, because it takes a certain pressure off -- I can enjoy the cars without having the responsibility of babying a classic.

One more thing -- the production numbers are awfully high on CDW-27 cars across the board. This doesn't do anthing to help collectability. Just drive them and enjoy.

lol desireable to who?? i'm sure a gremlin with 0 miles on it is extremely rare too but who cares?

hey if you want to buy it that's youre decision. I think if you do buy it you're going to regret doing so after the repair bills start coming in. Esp. since you already mentioned the car has been hit.

I loved the Fila T-Bird
My Dad had an '84 Elan that I learned to drive on.
I loved those T-Birds. They had great lines.
I do miss it...

hey, if you have room for another car, and the know how to fix it, why not go for it? the car is cheap enough that even if it isnt showroom perfect, it'll make a great DD
