IC: Push Button Start Kit

Not open for further replies.
I kinda want to use our own push buttons. I like the Honda S2000 style myself or something similar.

Sign me up for Kit 1.

My neighbor's Elise has push button start like this too.

I've got a friend that works for Honda/Acura...wonder how much he could get a button for.

Ok can we start a list for those whom want Kit1...
This list will be a working list, i will start at 1 and sell down the list to those ready to pay and recieve... I should have 3 ready to go out next week and ill get more parts as i see how many people are getting in line.

Thanks..

1.

Well the trans. has to be pretty close to the rec. so im not so sure how well it will work. Sad to say i havent had too much time to put to this. but soon the lingering projects will be done and more time can be put into this kit.

You know you want to put that new add on to your car next weekend...
Lets make it happen.

Ford dealer got a hoot out of it...
First off the dealer here never seen an SVTcontour before,
but to watch them try to start it while staring at a Big RED 'ENGINE START' button...

9 out of 10 Dentists approve of it...

Question - if you use the first setup, is the dimmer switch still functional as a dimmer? I like to have my dash lights pretty low, and it would drive me nuts to have them all the way up on bright.

To it that way you would have to have a dimmer switch out of a Conteq that has a Neg output when switched full. check this out and you will see what i mean

These are found in the 99+, and using the Neg. output of that extra spot gives the ground for the switch needed to start the car.

Install....

Remove Lower Steering wheel cover(and Knee plate if you need to)

Locate Gray Ignition plug about 6 inches blow Ignition and unplug

Install PBS unit inbetween these two plugs and ziptie securly in place...

Run given Start wire to your selected Push Button...

Notice the plugs above my button... the 3 lower prongs are for dimming, the top one is the NEG out put needed to do the added security (again found in 99-00 tours) You can ground to this or straight to a ground spot.

You can if you have a Dimmer Switch with a Neg out (usually for manualy turning on the interior lights) ground your switch here for a security add on. Or just the switches other side to any ground near by.

You can Choose to Keep your key start operational or not by switching the switch at the PBS unit.

ENJOY.... Pre98 Kits to come...

well the key fob system that comes with the contour hasnt had good results with relocating it. Nor have i found a way to change the circle part to try and expand it while keeping it working.... So for now its not... But I have sent the info and a sample out to a friend that does play more with the electrical board stuff so he will try and see if he can make a better reciever for the system using the factory parts.
So for now, PBS1 98+ is good, and pre 98 im still looking for the right plug. But now that i finaly got a pre98 parts car ill tear it apart looking for another area with the right plugs to use.

Very nice! Where can we locate the push button? does it have to be there or can it be anywhere?

No the starter wire that Comes attached is 6 foot long... You can put it in the back seat if you would like.

That place i put mine is nice, but keep in mind depending on how deep your button is you may have to drill a hole in the dash plastic fame behind it like i had to.. If you check the pic that shows my HVAC you will see what i mean. Simple push buttons( MOMENTARY SWITCH) are at radio shack for 1.99

What's that button out of svttour?

Anyone know what other vehicles have them?

I'd like to find one out of an Elise but I'll probably go with an S2K one since I've got a friend that works there.
