Just had to do this yesterday myself -- here is a little trick I found that made it easier: You just remove the plastic intake cover that says duratec 24v on it (3 7mm bolts hold it in place). Then with a piece of two sided tape stick the plastic clip on the end of your middle finger, move the swing arm portion up a bit with your finger, and it is fairly easy to press the plastic clip into it...no need to remove anything else. Then press the rod into it and its an easy fix.
