Do you guys have any suggestions to any brands I should go for, for my lower control arm bushings? I have to replace mine basically now because they're getting bad, so I am trying to get it done asap.

If you have a 2-bolt arm on your car, stick with stock complete arm replacements. Anything stiffer will be bad.
If you have a 4-bolt arm on your car, its either stock rubber or I think energy suspension makes some as well, either is fine.

Okay, sweet! Would it make sense to replace just the bushings, or the entire control arm?

Rara, could you point me in the way for the Energy bushings? I have the 4 Bolt configuration. If it would have helped, I have a 1998 Sport SE.

energy suspension does not make front LCA bushings for the Contour. the only offerings for the Contour are the front roll resistor inserts, rear control arm bushings, and front and rear sway bar mounting bushings.

Thanks for pointing that out striker, for some reason I thought energy or someone made a poly set for the 4-bolt arms.

I just did a stock type bushing swap out for my '98 2 bolt LCAs. They seem to work fine................

Those look like good bushings but when you can get the whole arm with a new joint for less probably it doesn't make much sense.

Hmm, okay. RockAuto only has 2 bolt CA's anyways. I'll research it a little bit more. Would it be more worth it if I got complete control arms?

what you mean, they have Dorman 4-bolt arms for $72 a piece. complete control arms come with new bushings (which cant be had elsewhere for the 4-bolt arms) and a new ball joint. so for the price, its generally worth it.

So would I. Dorman quality in terms of plastic and rubber parts is below horrible. I see so many coming back after only a few months and part literally falling apart. Certain applications the part will come back destroyed in maybe a week. Power steering or master cylinder caps, yeah, but LCAs? Absolutely not.

even still, rockauto has many other options for the 4-bolt arms. if you cant find them under the 98 year, look under the 97 year.

no, that looks like an upper control arm for a truck.

this is what the 4-bolt arms look like.

in the rockauto catalog, go to Ford, 1997 (or 98 but 97 will be easier), Contour (doesnt matter what submodel or engine size), suspension, control arm. then find the ones that look like that. left and right sides are mirror images so you need 1 of each.
