I now what the code means p0103 but what could it be? i've replaced the MAF back in december. I've checked for vacuum leaks too and found none. unless its in a spot I can't reach like under the intake manifold. could my MAF be bad already? i've already fouled my plugs again. I don't even drive the car cause i'm afraid it'll stall out like it does in the driveway. the car idles fine, sometimes dropping below 500 rpm but it doesn't have a high idle. very confusing any ideas? thanks

no I haven't cleaned it cause it looks clean. I guess I could clean it anyways and try that since its free.

still have the P0103 code and its driving me nuts! the only other thing wrong with the car is a bad HEO2 sensor. I still can't drive the car cause its stalls out. any ideas? anyone?

If you don't have access to a scantool I suggest that you get a meter and check the MAF output voltage at engine off, at idle, and revving. Something should turn up.

Sometimes just unplugging and replugging it's connector will fix such things for a while.
If it does, get a replacement connector and do a solder/shrink job.

i do what roger said just diconnect the battery +/- and unplug the connector wait 15 seconds and plug it back in and connect the battery and see if it runs normal

I've unplugged it plugged it reset the PCM. I've used my volt meter but havn't found any specs on what my voltage limits should be. but let me get this straight, from what i've found is the meter is labled EABCDF E and F are not used. and according to what i've found on the internet is . A=12v B=ground C=signal return D=MAF50......what the heck is MAF 50? I found that info on FORDFUELINJECTION.COM. well according to the chiltons manual betwen B and D MAF50? i'm supposed to have 4.5 volts minimum. I have 8.5. then between B and C I'm supposed to have .34-1.96 i have .5 . I have the P0103 code but what voltage should I have with that? I have the minimums but what is the max?

well according to the chiltons manual betwen B and D MAF50? i'm supposed to have 4.5 volts minimum. I have 8.5.

On the oval connector pin D is MAF 5.0 - This is the output signal which ranges from about 0 volts with the engine off, 0.7 volts at idle, and up to near 5 volts at WOT. 8.5 volts is too high and out of normal range.

Disconnect the MAF and check B-D, if it comes down to 3 volts or so the MAF is pulling the output up too high. If B-D stays high I would say you have a wiring or PCM problem.

I'll check that out thanks. does it matter that I don't have a oval connector. mine is a rectangle. I have a 98 tour. I was getting 8.5 volts at idle.

do you think there could be something wrong with the MAF? maybe autozone gave me a bad MAF its a remanufatured one.

.. vacuum leak cause the computer to send a high voltage to the MAF?
Yes, a vacuum leak before the MAF will definitely cause a CEL for the MAF. The other items to check are the wires which come out of the connector for the MAF. Make sure there is no short among them. IIRC, one of them (purple color?) goes to the VSS.

well i'm gonna go in there and check for more vacuum leaks. my wiring looks clean and not brittle. I'm thinking I may need a new PCM, and because it is an SVT model there are expensive and rare.

well its been alittle more than 2 months now and i think I finally found the culprit. I was checking out the TPS and noticed that the spring was done and the butterfly in the TPS was loose. I replaced that bad boy and my p0103 pending code dissapeared! I think the old one still worked just enough to not trip any codes but it was enough to throw off the MAF. pretty weird. I took my car for a test drive it runs great! still scared though. its still gonna go under some more test drives till I can gain any confidence in it again.
