Ford needs to build it, period. Just think of the packages they could bring back, XR7, Eliminator, etc.

Too Mustangish. If they do it, it needs to be a totally different car like in the past. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with the Mustang, but if they were to do something like this, it would be the same old, Contour\Mystique, Escape\Mariner, Explorer\Mountaineer, etc story.

Agree with bhiggs, looks too much like the Challenger also, kind of looks like if at Mustang and Challenger mated, this would be the bastard child.

I agree that it looks kinda like the challenger. The Cougar was built of the mustang originally so that would bring it back to it's roots. It's just a design concept from some designer. It would be cool for Ford to bring it back to the hayday and give mercury a little kick. I like the basis of the concept and it would have to be Mustang based to be a true Cougar.

It was a nice attempt, but I'm cringing and shrinking in places. And why put a third brake light on the trunk of a concept car? Needs more go-go-gadget imagination cap.

...it would have to be Mustang based to be a true Cougar.
I couldn't agree more!!
I think the wheels, side stripe and c pillar give it resemblance to the Challenger. I think it is very Mustang-ish everywhere though. I'd rock one for sure. I love those 67/68 Cougars.

Ford should just rebadge a Mustang with a better interior and more luxury bits.

Really bad photoshop. Which makes me want to fix it, but alas no time. But I'm all for a new Cougar geared toward the muscle car heritage.

Not that terrible, but I feel so bad for the "Cougar" nameplate.
First it was a T-Bird... Then it was a 2-door hatchback Contour, now it will be a Mustang if this happens.
Talking about not having a real identity.

That's the problem. To the untrained [perhaps arrogant] eye, muscle cars all looked the same through the 70s. I mean they really looked the most similar in that time frame. We don't need that again do we?

I think bringing the Cougar back is a perfect opportunity for ford to 'borrow' an Australian FPV platform for the US market.
