i go through state farm. i collected all the receipts i had from upgrades in the car. they took pictures of everything that was listed on the receipts. so now if anything gets wrecked(knock on wood), im covered

you need to check your insurence policy to see what is covered and what isn't. example mine will cover audio equipment installed in stock loactions only, but they cover like 1k of value of items in the trunk so I am covered there.

the only way that you can be certain that you get 100% covered for what you put into the car is going with an insurance company that covers specalty cars, and get an agreed upon value insurance.

Insurance will not cover you if you have any extras on your car, unless they are accounted for when purchasing or changing your insurance policy. Which you will pay for monthly.

this is not true ^ state farm will cover anything that is bolted to the car and can be proven on. pictures help.

Allstate has a 1000 dollar limit for anything that is not already on your policy as far as aftermarket goes. The only bad part about this is that even though you get an extra grand that doesn't go towards the value of the car. Basically your aftermarket parts do not raise the value of the car but they will pay you for them, specialty isurance is the way to go!

Yup I have USAA (military and prior service with prior accounts only) and I have actual value for everything on my car! And its the lowest cost for insurance in the nation.
