My 98' Contour SE Sport

I put many, many hours into this tour'. When I got it, it had been parked under a tree for a year. I am not sure it ever saw any wax. The interior smelled and was covered in dust/dirt. I had to scrub the dash and other vinyl with dish soap and hot water.

I used the Meguir's 3-step process on the exterior, all by hand and then followed that with 2 coats of Poor Boys Natty's Blue Carnuba.

Yesterday I shampood the carpets and seats.

I used Stoner's on the glass.
Impressed!!!! That car looks brand new from the photos! (excepting the headlight haze)

that is an excellent selection of chemicals you used on the body, the last thing it needs though... CLAYBAR!

Claybar is ALWAYS the way to go before you apply any wax, it cleans the clearcoat better then any cleaners wax, it does amazing work and doesnt really even take that long, try it sometime you will be thoroughly impressed.

I thought about claying as I have it handy in my garage. I think I was just wanting to quickly see if I could bring the finish back to life. I'll probably clay it in the spring.

The headlights will be my next project as I am trying to decide whether to buy new ones or attempt cleaning-up the hazy ones.

Thursday I am getting new rear struts and springs.

Cleaning the old headlights only costs about $20 in supplies. 2000 grit sandpaper, 1000 grit sandpaper, 600 grit sandpaper, some liquid dawn (which I am sure you have around the house), 3M rubbing compound, then Meguiars Plastic X as a final step to give it a nice polished look. I also like to apply some kind of car wax to give extra protection.

AliasJerk-

Thanks for the lens cleaning tips. Would you mind giving me some details? Do I start with the 600 then work uo to the 2000?

Thanks,

G.
