Yes, it's a Hyundai. Specifically a Hyundai Azera Limited w/ the Ultimate package. Yes, I love this thing more every time I drive it. It was an '06 demo with 3,300 miles on it. Never titled. So I still get the 10/100,000 powertrain warranty. It is super-quiet and comfy on the highway. My 10 hour (each way) commute would just beat me to death in the Contour. The Azera was the polar opposite.

So what's it got?
3.8L V6 w/ 264 hp & 255 tq, 5sp auto w/ manumatic, leather, dual power front seats, power tilt/telescope, power adjustable pedals, power folding mirrors, 2 driver memory settings, in dash 6 CD infinity system w/ 8" sub - 10 speakers total, 8 (smart) airbags, electro-luminescent instruments, auto headlights, auto rain-sensing wipers, electric rear window sun shade, moonroof, projectors, and LED tails.

Performance is very good. Especially for a car this size. 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds, top end near 150 (and NO SPEED LIMITER!). And this car is HUGE! When I get back to Houma, I'll post up a pic of it sitting next to Mark's S60R for comparison.

It stickered for $30,125. I paid $22,000.

My favorite view of this car. They've got such sexy rears!

Finally, some dark paint so I can get sweet reflections!

I guess I'll have to use a tripod to get this shot perfect:

First mods planned are debadging. There are several replacement aftermarket grilles that delete the huge "H." Then will probably be new springs. H&R makes a set for it. Finally, Ixion makes a kick-a$$ body kit for it. You can see pics of it in this post.

Honestly, Hyundai has stepped up it's game in the past couple years. It has gone from mini-mobile (Accent/Elantra) to Jaguar immitation (XG) to Camry immitation (Sonata) and now to THIS

Just wait...The Genesis (arriving in late '08) will be a RWD V8 w/ over 300 hp! I'm hoping I can afford to make the trade when it arrives. It should start at $30k for the V6, and will be tens of thousands less than a comparable LS or 7 Series.

The next Tiburon is rumored to be getting the same V8/RWD treatment too.

Be careful with your claims.

I will honestly say that the Hyundai line has greatly improved its cars in the past few generations.

I like the new Azera, the motor is powerful and efficent, Hyundai's new transmissions are excellent too. I was in one of the newer accents and even the 4 sp automatic in those is smooth as butter, my complaint about the accent, is the suspension is too unsure of itself, when doing 75ish on the highway its wiggleing and pitching about on minimal bumps. But the more I look at the Sonata, and the Azera, the more I get interested in possibly purchasing one in the future. I plan to buy a newer car next year and this time im going to finance to get something I can use as a daily driver and be comfertable. Hyundai is turning into a very reputable manufactorer, but im not going to say they are giving Jaguar and BMW, a run for their money. People buy Jag's and BMWs because thats what they love, and nothing will change their mind. Period.

But when you are talking companies like Ford, Dodge (especially) and GM, and Toyota, and Honda, those are the auto manufactorers that Hyundai is giving a run for their money. I had a friend whose family is die hard American car people, I suggested they looked at a Sonata (because they were in the market for a car about that size) they cringed at the thought of not buying American, but I convinced them to test drive it anyways. What do I see next week? They were rolling a brand new Hyundai Sonata. Like I said Great cars for the money.

Would I ever buy one brand new? Never. The reason being, when they get one year old and only have like 10-20K miles on them the price drops at exponential rates. Which means you can get a great car for seriously cheap, but dont expect to get much back for it when you sell it years later.

Incorrect, it was announced by Hyundai that there will not be a V8 put into the Tiburon. But it will become a RWD platform. My guess is they are going to go the Turbo I4 route. I just hope to god they dont throw the 2.8L back in it, Its a good motor but hideously underpowered for a RWD sports car. That is depending upon how heavy they end up making it. But I think their 3.8L they have been using would be perfect for the Tiburon if they decided to go V6.

That's why I picked up a new '06. Used '06s w/ 20k miles are going for $19-$20k. And the second owner does NOT get 10yr/100,000 miles. It drops to 5/60. So only paying $2k more for new than used, and getting the 10/100 was definitely worth it for me. There are times and circumstances when it is beneficial to buy new. You just have to keep an eye out for them, and jump when one comes along.

That's how Hondas were...a long time ago, but I predict hyundai's value to start holding much better.

Very nice ride! I love the tails! May just be me but the tires look huge:shrug:

I'm sorry...did you just say you commute is 10 hours? EACH WAY?

Surely I'm mis-understanding you
You read correctly. I live in Graham, TX and work in Houma, LA. 615 miles each way. 1,230 round trip. Two weeks there, one week home. I expect I'll rack up 100,000 miles in about four years. Yet another reason the Hyundai was appealing. :)

dear god, i thought you did that every day. Thats not quite as bad

The wheels are 17s. The upshot is, I can put 18s or 19s on it, and still have a decent amount of sidewall. I'm eyeballing some TSW Sakata 5s in 18". Got lip? :

Oh ya good choice there! those would be titties on that car!
