isn't microsoft virtual pc freeware now?? they bought the copmany that developed it, sold it for a while and now they give it away, atleast IIRC.

Computer's all better, now...thanks for everyone's advice. fyi, AVG was the only software that found everything, but I still had to go in and manually change some settings back that the virus had altered w/o my permission...
Vmware is the best price of all. FREE Not really beyond most users, very simple to setup and get running. If you can install an OS, then you can get a VM up and running.
