its a 1987 Ford Tempo GL sport. it has the 2.3 HSO 100hp 4 banger and a MTX-III trans (5 speed), power mirrors, crank windows, manual door locks, A/C (unsure if it works), rear window defrost, sport seats, and the sport 14" 7 spoke aluminum rims. It was last inspected in 05, but still runs and moves (a little bit). needs some fresh gas, tune up, some wire repair, brake work (e brake is sticking pretty good), new exhaust manifold (has a crack) and some body work(he has an 87 w/o a title that i can use for parts) My buddy said if i can get it inspected i can have it real cheap. it does have 173K on the clock, but the engine runs fairly strong. we started it for maybe the third time in 4 years. here is a video...

it also needs a good cleaning and some paint, but if i were to get it running good enough, it'd give me something to drive while i got some work done to the Mystique.
 
i wanna start working on modding the Mystique. i want to get the Tempo on the road, pick up another motor for it, and rebuild it and rebuild the tranny, swap out the old and put in a new in a weekend, then start diggin deep into the Mystique. i'm starting my commitment to hitting atleast lower 13's. but if i get the tempo on the road, i can atleast start doin suspension, brakes, and other things to stiffen the chassis. but then the rebuilt engine, trans and all in the tempo would make it like a new car.

Overall i'm planning on fully restoring the Tempo with some very minor mods and going all out with the 2.0 Mystique.
 
its pretty hard to make LED's go out, unless you have an electrical problem, also, if that one doesnt work out, there is a 2nd generation for sale in Lancaster, which is only a few miles away from me, and that is also a GLS, but its auto (but i can swapp it over with the 87 parts car) its basically a 2 door version of my old GLS

i thought you gave up on modding you mystique:shrug:

also, i thoght you gave up cause you didnt have the money with school... so now your goign to have 2 project cars?:shrug::confused:
 
i'm done with classes in December, and they'll be paid off this summer. with my tax return i want to buy a car to drive, set the 'stique to the side and when the classes are paid off, its fair game. i wont have to be payin out the butt for school, so all the money i was spending i'll be putting into the car. i have all the tools to build the motor for the tempo and the stique, and the rebuild kits are fairly cheap for the 2.3's. the 5 speeds are also easy to rebuild. i can have the Tempo rebuilt for under 800 bucks doin all my own work. the mystique, well, its gonna be a little more.
 
because they're cheap, easy to fix and reliable. the black one i posted doesnt need anything. it runs and drive great with under 100K miles only asking 675 or something like that.

but still. 675+800 for a motor rebuild. and who knows what else. i would rather buy a much new car and not spend any cash on it.

but i guess its not as bad as my friend who just bought a 1995 civic with 180k for $3000. the already put a trans in it. it has honda wheel well rot. and needs paint:nonono:

Oh well I won't make fun of you. I love my second gen escorts and always have trouble saying no to one of them. I'm looking for a good one now actually.
 
Ah the Tempo. I loved my 92 Topaz, and I always wanted to get a GLS or XR5, but none of them were in good enough condition for me to even think about getting.
