New Ford Factory twin turbo and DSG!

Twin turbo V6 sounds like an efficient alternative to a V8. I wonder what a performance tuned version of this engine would do.
 
450-500 at the crank pretty easily ford has all of the pieces to make this fantastic, well besides a future proof RWD/AWD platform, I hope they can put this together before they realize that this will make the mustang look pants and then it will be the hot factory contour thing all over again and they will stick to the mustang and drop the turbo.
That DSG variation is dying to go into a v6 fusion with the 3.5 though, am I right guys?

What's wrong with the current Fusion/Milan AWD system?

The article suggests 415hp; 450hp would be unrealistic through performance tweaks? Or do you think even 415hp is unrealistic for a factory ford twin turbo 3.5L?
 
Not a fan of DSG, I dont care if i still shift it with my hands I needs me a clutch pedal!

The article indicates 415hp for the show car engine, not a production engine. From a modified performance standpoint, I'm sure 450hp is definately possible from a turbo 3.5L once you start changing things around . . . assuming the key stock parts are strong enough for it; things like the block, crank, etc.

I can understand the fun factor of manual shift, but those will become a thing of the past except on econo-box cars. The new technology delivers power for better performance than a manual can hope for:

"to deliver a quick, smooth transition with virtually no interruption of power delivery."

Slick.

I also hope that they put this into the Lincoln-Mercury brands.... Competition for the euro-cans.

i can't imagine a blue oval w/this set-up. but it may make it to a mazda in some fashion, or a lincoln w/crazy upgades. maybe an ls revised? i would buy any car that had a 3.5l w/ 400hp and walk the dog on some of the pretentious pricks in my area! ford is generating talk, is that all or will they follow through? they have killed off a lot of cars in the past 15 years.
 
I would love to see this come out. I bet it would really drink some gas once you put the peddle to the metal. It might even come with a gas guzzler tax. $1000:eek:

How long does the average turbo last. Will they work flawlessly to 100k miles?
