New guy here...

SOME of the earlier black Contours (95-98.5 or so) had problems with paint cracking. Mine was covered with cracks when I bought it. Some areas have been repainted since, but my roof and few other areas still look like crap up close.

Stick with Silver Frost if you want something easy to take care of.

I know, but I love the way the car looks in black... Hmmm. I do know of a local 3si (3000GT/Stealth International) guy who might be selling a silver frost one this summer. We'll see what happens...

True, I'd take black over silver any day. Silver is just too bland, and doesn't stand out at all. Nothing like a freshly detailed black SVT in the summer.

I have to disagree that 98 is the best year. It is of course a matter of opinion, and I am biased. However it would be difficult for me to buy a car, especially a performance oriented car, and not get the model with the highest power output. It doesn't matter if it's 5 hp, or 100 hp. I want the best one in regards to power output. It may seem silly to some, but not to me. Considering we get excited over mods that net gains of 5 hp or less, it seems rediculous to brush off 5 hp like it's nothing. I also think the stock wheels are much better on the E1's, than on the E0's. That may not matter much if you plan to upgrade your wheels. Also, my 99 has had no issues with dash warp. I would think that if a car that is at least 7 years old were going to get dash warp, it would have done it by now. So if you find a 99 without dash warp, you're probably safe. IIRC wasn't the tranny upgraded slightly after the 98 year? Anyway... just my 2 cents.
