New Tiburon replacement uncovered - Genesis Coupe

The Mustang doesn't really need IRS. Ol' Shel actually addressed this very subject a little while back, stating that the way the car is set up, an IRS design would have added a whole lot of cost without significant benefit.

That's a load. How come Hyundai can release this car with an IRS for the price of a Mustang, yet include more features and ammenities? It's simple, Ford has to pay it's way out of the hole they've dug over the years and the deletion of an IRS makes the only car they make money on anymore even more profitable. They didn't do it because it's just as good, they did it because it's adequate and cheap.

If I'm buying a soirts coupe, I don't want just adequate.
 
Need to see a few more pics, but looks promising. That strong belt line
sorta speaks to the current Eclipse, but doesn't seem like a total ripoff...

And yeah, 300hp for mid $20's is pretty damn good. Fingers crossed, it's halfway relieable too!

Hyundai has already proven itself to be more than adequate. My family already has two Sonatas and an Accent, and the experiences have been nothing but positive. I hope the big three aren't ignoring the threat as well.
 
I like that "twist" look on the side. Have to agree it makes the Stang look very bland and outdate.

Hmmm... Hyundai sales seem to be doing the exact opposite of what Ford's are.

Compare any Hyundai model to the equivalent Ford (keep in mind Ford doesn't even have an entry to compete with Hyundai in each category) and you'll see that Hyundai offers more options, more standard features (stability control is available in almost every vehicle they sell standard) and in every category, thier cars make more power, have more upscale interiors, have better warranties, get better fuel economy despite the extra power, and for the most part look better too.

Enjoy your outdated Pony car, just don't feel too bad when it starts getting decontented like the rest of Ford's history. Hey maybe they'll fix it like they just did with the Focus... oh wait... they ruined that too. Don't feel too bad either if a pointy nosed car with an H in it's oval and a puny V6 spanks your soap bar with wheels in every performance category that requires a steering wheel. This car will only be competing with the Stang in price.

While I am no ford fan and I find this all very amusing...the logic in this thread is severely lacking.

Ford has additional hourly costs that Hyundai and other import automobile manufacturers don't have. So in the past the money had to come out of the vehicles. I am under the impression that this has changed with the new UAW contract. Also hyundai, much like the chinese couldn't give two :censored::censored::censored::censored:s about intellectual property. Hell, look at their logo compared to Honda's...
there are other instances of design theft, but I don't feel like digging...

Honkey, for chrissake could you please stop with the outlandish claims. You're taking unsubstantiated pre-production Hyundai performance numbers and claiming that it will run laps around a mustang...this is absolutely hilarious!

Nissan's doing it with the GT-R, so why can't he?:shrug:

I trust press releases from Nissan a lot more than, "The photos of the undisguised car were reportedly taken during a marketing presentation at which those in attendance were told the only two available engines would be a 2.0L turbo with 215 HP and 217 ft-lbs of torque or a 3.8L V6 with 300 HP and 280 ft-lbs."


Besides look at the last revision of the Hyundai Tiburon that had the front end of a Mercury Cougar on it...

But you'll proudly clunk around in an old overpriced GM SUV that was NEVER really that good to begin with? C'mon, I know this is a very domestic-biased board and all, but the facts don't lie. Hyundai is doing damn good for themselves. I know a woman who went from a Lincoln Navigator to a Kia Amanti and never looked back. Her blue-oval garage is now taken over by Kias and have had nothing but positive things to say about them. As much as I hate Japanese and Korean cars, I will say that the Koreans are making themselves known - and in a GOOD way. Ford needs to watch themselves if they want to stay competitive...

Yeah, I would much rather clunk around my 10 year old GMC POS SUV over ANY Hyundai...EVER. :rolleyes:

In the eyes of MOST PEOPLE, Hyundai is still a POS throw away car, that holds value like water. I think the only vehicle that depreciates more than a Ford Contour is a Hyundai.

And as for going from a Lincoln Navi to a Kia...please. I'm not even going to waste my time with this anymore.
 
I find this thread gives me mixed feelings. I will never buy a foreign car, unless it is made in Europe. But I respect and recognize the gains in value that Hyundai has developed as of recent, and can only expect it to gain further in popularity and value. I will laugh out loud when Hundai dethrones Toyota and other Japanese automakers, as I think it's about time. There is nothing better for the consumer than competition, and I'm glad to see the bar raising so quickly. GM and Ford definately need to pay attention to the competition, but I think they already are. If Hyundai becomes the #1 automaker, than so be it. I have no problem purchasing a car from a #2,3, or 4 automaker if it is the car that I want, and I'm proud to own and drive it. Not that anyone should be ashamed of owning a Hundai, but I am pleased with the progress that GM and Ford have made in build quality, design, and powertrain. (Well that is once Ford implements it's global design here in the US...that Focus is hideous.) I think the Genesis concept shown there is somewhat unattractive, and think the Mustang is a much more appealing design. But all I can say is game on. I still love my contours.

Those press releases are more ridiculous than when C&D claimed the Acura RSX Type-S wins in a comparo with similar cars because "It's cooler to say you have an Acura."

The only thing they have remotely similar is the lower grille. Otherwise, the headlights don't even share the same lines, the upper grille is completely different.
