is the nitro prettymuch just a newer liberty , or am i totally off????

parts of it were based on it & it also has some different things going on...it is the sister vehicle of the jeep compass

looking around it seems that the new liberty is based off the nitro.
i don't know what the nitro was originally based off of, but i dont think it was the compass

Commander is way too big...It shares its platform with the Liberty.
