When TGO posted his car pics I started sifting through autotrader just to see what they were going for again.

I've decided the next car I buy will be this, a 97 Dodge Viper GTS, and I will have it for under $25k. I've been watching these cars for a quite a few years now waiting for them to come down in price. No more screwing around other cars paying outrageous amounts of money only for a little performance increase. It will be balls to the wall performance with no scarfices and no cut corners. Sure I'll keep the CSVT for a daily driver, but I'll ride in style with the GTS during the summer for sure.

Here is an example of a 97 GTS with 35k on it for only $32k. They will just keep coming down in price. With the big jump down after they released the new model in 2000.

I could of course have an 93-94 RT/10 for right around $20k today, but then it doesn't have side windows or a hard top either. I did look at Vettes and Cobras, but everyone has one of those. I don't see many Vipers on the streets.

damn dude. i was in the market for a terminator cobra, but im tired of owning 2 cars...and i'd have to if i wanted to get around in the winter.

the GTS' are my favorite viper though. needs more blue w/white racing stripes!

I had NO idea that Vipers were that cheap, well, not that cheap but you know what I mean:shrug: BTW, those headlights are terrible lookin', wonder what a set of those cost:rolleyes: :help::eek:

Nothing some fine sandpaper and some polish can't fix ;)

Agreed. There was a 97 GTS that was blue w/white stripes for $43k with 22k on it...

Not bad, I gotta have the side pipes tho!

I will take an ACR black on black on black :)

My ex girlfriends dad was President of the viper assoication.

His garage was beautiful. 9 vipers in all. Thank god he liked me enough for me to drive the #12 bulit first year viper. GTS, ACR, red one, yellow one black one. Man this guy had every type that was built and color.

His whole 5 million dollar house was viper everything down to the tile on the wall and ground. Too viper glasses, viper wine, viper sink handles. You get the idea.

Bill clinton got either the #11 or #12. He always told me how Bill Clinton was standing right next to him while they all walked in line to a podium to accept there keys to these cars.

Back on topic, def pick one up for that cheap. But pick up a used escort for a winter car also. Unless you already have a winter car.

I'd probably keep driving my CSVT in the winter. I wash it religiously weekly or twice a week if salt gets laid down a lot. I couldn't stand driving something under powered. Thats why I never bought a escort/festiva/metro when I finished building my Camaro. My daily driver then was my 94 SHO, which was replaced with my CSVT.

That said I might buy a Ranger Splash or some other small truck (possibly an S10 Xtreme) for the winter though.

Would anyone believe the bumper sticker on his escort(if he got one) that says my other car is a Viper???

I had no idea bubba was a car guy! another reason why he's a true pimp!

maintenance and insurance on those are through the roof.

cool cars though... always liked them... low and wiiiiide.

Not really. Mine is not my primary vehicle so I get a bit of a discount. Insurance runs me around $300 every 6 months, full coverage. Safeco takes into account my prestine credit score and that helps a bit.

And I've read that the dealer gets $100-$150 for an oil change but I do all that type of stuff myself. The only higher maintenance cost is that I have to buy 10 spark plugs instead of 6. :)

Here's my '99 that I bought last July for $42,500 with 16,000 miles. People tend to either love or hate the Cognac leather interior. I think it looks great on a dark color car. To me there's just nothing like being able to remove the top and cruise around on a warm summer day. SVS sells a DIY twin turbo kit for $12,500 that I'm considering for a winter project next year. It would boost it to 900-1000 hp. I still have my 10-year-old Mystique with 140k miles as my daily driver.

Very nice, Its suprising to see the cost come down on those. I remember when I was younger they were all still up in the supercar range.

Perhaps ill look into picking one up down the road, but I think id dive into something a bit more practical first like a cobra, or vette or something.
