Why doesn't someone just port an LIM, source some larger butterfly plates & dyno it? That would at least put y'all in the ballpark for expected gains.

Though I have to say that I don't see this doing much, if any good, without an opened-up UIM.

See i thought about the larger butterfly plates....but from what car? The sho is what i assume they got it from:shrug: Or will get them from:shrug:

I would tackle this myself if i did indeed get some butterflies from somewhere.

I thought they custom made the butterflies

Exactly...LIM mod, ported UIM, 65mm TB. Do it right.

Pole sent me an email about doing just what you suggested. He ended up moding his 2.5L and he noticed a huge drop in the lower end and wasn't satisfied with the overall performance.

I just didn't think that max-EH'ing the UIM ports got them as big as they're talking about making this LIM. Anyone have the measurements of the ports from a max-EH'd UIM?

The split from the mouth opens up too 70mm+ The ports enlarge by 1-2mm all around.

The cfm tests where def noticeable.

stock manifold = 155 CFm
single honed = 170 CFm
double honed = 180 CFm
triple honed = 190-193 CFm

I have a max honed UIM, the intake ports are svt spec

Bought it that way. Yes im going to port them to the LIM

and my engine is already ported to the 37/34

Very nice increase there.
Any idea what an ST220 UIM flows?

According to Morbid on page 3,
Max EH UIM:
... primary exit: 34.270
... secondary exit: 35.550

IMO, it would be silly to bolt a 34mm/35mm exit 2.5L UIM to a 34mm/37mm entrance LIM. Even if you port-match the exits of the UIM, it's secondary runners will still be smaller than the secondary ports of the LIM. Sure, you could net gains from the larger primary, but the over-large secondary of the LIM could very possibly hinder mid-range performance since the size increase from the UIM would slow flow. Port the secondary runners of the 2.5L UIM to 37mm, and you'd be in business. Otherwise, I say use the 3L UIM with this LIM.

Maybe in theory it would hurt mid-range but I doubt much. I'd still vote for this LIM ported to match the max-honed SVT UIM for best power.

I agree....mid rage would be the same if not a a little bit more. If anything bottom end would suffer...a really agressive tune would be needed to make up the difference.

IMHO....i think a full 3L install would be a way better investment then having to do a lim/uim/tune. in which you still won't make enough power.

But i would still like to know what type of power this thing would offer if all these mods were done:shrug:

The #'s I stated were for the 'max extrude' with them also gasket matching the exits. It sounds like you could open them up even more with the felpro gaskets though. I port matched my LIM to it... dremeling about 3/4" of the LIM entrances.

I got my SHO Shop LIM last night. I will try to take some pictures and measurements when I put it on this weekend.

Well the SHOShop LIM was shown by the SHOShop to have some gains. We can make the LIM as seen by our BBB's. To make the tooling and even make a prototype requires a big commitment for a lot of people who seem unwilling to commit to this when it was shown to make gains in the past.

We are trying to bring new parts to you and even more. We do need you guys to meet us half way.
