does anyone else think that by using 'full butterflies' the low end torque would be maintained on a 2.5L ? I think those cut away ones may work on a 3L but not on 2.5L.. G.

Once again, the shoshop LIM, has dynoed to gain 7hp/6tq with the 2.5 and 3.0 made 12hp/11tq

From who? Don't tell me thats from sho-shops dyno resuts:rolleyes:

There dyno results were soo skewed...it's disgusting how they blew their numbers up...just to sell things. :nonono:

Ok folks, I put my SHO Shop LIM on my 3L hybrid last night. One butterfly was missing, and two were damaged. So, I attempted to take the butterflies out of the stock SVT LIM and make it work for now until I get proper ones made, but to make a long story short, it went on without any functioning secondaries.

The numbers-
SVT Primary- 34mm
SVT Secondary- 35mm
SHO Primary- 34mm

SHO Secondary- 37.5mm

Some of you were concerned with gasket sizes-

The top gasket has no clearance issues.

The bottom gasket IS about 0.5mm smaller in diameter than the port on the secondaries, at least with an OEM motorcraft gasket.

The heads ARE even smaller than the gaskets, for those who were concered.

BTW, can you say "engine sludge?" Yuck.

The SHO Shop LIM is also optimized with cut down shafts and countersuck screws. The ports are not tapered at all. My initial impressions were that there was no loss of power, however, not a lot of gain either. You should realize that I am running WITHOUT secondaries, without a tune for it, and I did not run it very hard to see if there was any noticeable gain in the top end, which is where it would seem to be in a hybrid with no secondaries. Furthermore, I reset the PCM, and I believe that after it 'learns' everything, the power will increase. For example, I went from a perfect idle at 14.7 A/F before, to off the chart lean and rough idle at first, but by my third idling session (had to jump start my dad's Corvette because he's a DA) the idle was smooth again and back up to 14.7-15.0 A/F. Of course I got P0171 and P0174 codes after the first idling session. Like I said, after the PCM learns what it's dealing with, I see it getting a lot better, and once I get some new butterflies made, I'll dyno it and see where we're at.

So SHO Source guys, can you make some butterflys and source some REALLY small countersunk screws for me for a small fee?

Just a little update from my drive into work this morning. The PCM seems to have learned its new parameters. I think that I MIGHT have lost a SMALL amount of my low end, but first gear is now completely useless. At half throttle above 3000, the tires just start spinning and you're immediately at 7000. My butt dyno tells me that this thing really makes a difference. I got lean codes again on my way to lunch, but it's not running lean according to the wideband, except for coasting to a stop in gear when the fuel shuts off.

Glad to hear its working out for you man. Are you using some of the SVT LIM butterflys for the time being?

Naw, I couldn't get them out for the life me.

He posted above that he's using NO secondaries for the time being.

But to keep this on topic, I'm still ready to jump in on this GB

Send in the $$$. That goes for everybody else too.

We need a butterfly comparison here. Stock lim with butterflies and shoshop with butterflies.

Unless i'm not reading your post right? You don't have secondaries on your car right now. So of course your going to gain more top end...

Even if you installed a stock lim and removed the secondaries you will still gain top end.

Yes, but I went from having a little tire chirp when the butterflies open to all out hell breaking loose at HALF throttle at 3000 RPM. I wouldn't call 3000 RPM the top-end. Trust me, it's making more power. I will get butterflies made and dyno the car, but it probably won't be until April, as I'm parking it next week until the end of March.

About time your 3L was able to do that . On a more serious note I can't wait to see what numbers you put down:cool:.

AHH, your cars are still weak AHAHAH!!
Anyways, I hope this thing really gets going. It would be a nice addition to the cougar this summer.

That is interesting , especially since my car already made more torque than yours. ;)

I can't wait to see the numbers either, but it is going to be some time.

I don't remember these tires spinning at all when they were on your car... :p It must mean that I need some poly-filled mounts like you.

How often did I put the pedal down to get the tires spinning huh? :p
