Ok so my car needs help

crankshaft pulley? if so, replacing that seal is a relatively easy fix...probably no more than two hours labor.

or your alignment is off...which the mech should have done an alignment after swapping out your suspension.

did he? do you have the sheet with the specs on it?

They put it on the machine again today and said it was fine.

Apparently they swapped tires today and the car then pulled to the left. They put them back on how they were and it pulled to the right.

I'm just annoyed I will have a car that pulls now until i decide i want to buy new tires. Its a real dilema since I don't play on putting more then probably 2k miles a year on it... which means the current tires would be good for atleast another two seasons. So either i let it sit how it is currently, in a state in which it is not enjoyable to drive, or put new tires on it... then let it sit on them.

Apparently the pulling is caused by belts in the tires shifting??

Thats what i was just told on the phone.

if you didn't notice this when the tires were new, I don't see how this could happen...it's not like you're dealing with tires from the 70's...but maybe someone else could chime in

...or you could call Tire Rack or Discount Tire to see if they have ever heard of this happening...they sell thousands of tires and would know if this type of warranty claim was coming in...

how old are the tires? since you say they'd last for 2 seasons @ 2k miles, i'd say they're towards the end of their life. it's possible it could happen if they are that old.

but anyway, assuming this is the same mechanic, i'd request the print out of the alignment specs and have someone knowledgeable about contours confirm they are right.

don't feel so bummed...you cna get away with 2 tires if you have to.

Maybe when they had it apart to do the suspension , they didn't pay attention to where the tires came off , and just put them back on wherever . Tires (radial) don't like to be swapped side to side ...

I thought that was only true of directional tires? I have always rotated non-directional tires per the owners manual which cross two of the tires.

Tires (radial) don't like to be swapped side to side ...

I have to agree with Alan. Radial tires take a "set" and can have problems if run in the opposite direction. This usually is seen within the first 1k miles.

What kind of tires are they? The BFG KDW's that came with my car, as well as the other two sets I bought, seemed to go out of round at the end of their life.

They are some Kuhmo's I got for 65$ each from a buddy that has a tirerack.com whole sales account.

I may just throw a new set of them on next spring.

Good news is insurance is cheap on it with state minimum + telling them I plan on putting less then 500 miles a year on it ;0

At least they are willing to locate the leak on their dime. It would have been nice if they didn't charge for the dye but at least it's not a large chunk of change.

Keep us posted.
