Hey guys, I need to replace the passenger side exterior rear view mirror on my friend's '99 Contour. I found a used one on E-Bay from a '97 in the same color. Will this fit a '99?

Thanks!

ok-

so, if it is ".....nearly impossible not to destroy the screw cover...." when you attempt to take it off to remove the retaining screw, what have you folks used to fill the hole after you have changed mirrors or painted your mirror bases????

this inquiring mind would like to know.......thanks! lakeside

I know this isn't exactly timely, but I have a suggestion for removing the screw covers on the triangular trim patch without mangling them.

Do not try to jam a tool down into the gap between the cover and the trim, because there isn't much of one.

If your screw cover is standing proud of the trim in one place, even by a thousandth of an inch, try this:

Lay a very sharp chisel flat on the trim, then slide it sidewards until the point contacts the side of the cover. As if you were trying to shave the cover off flush with the trim surface. Keep some pressure against the cover and lift the chisel towards yourself, the little cap should slide right out. It isn't in there very tight. Good luck.

if its on that loose, a little super glue + string could work also. (acetone should be able to take any glue residue off, but try at your own risk)
