Pet Peeves.

I will be commuting to Boston 2 days a week.
I will be comp'ed for each travel, and will have a 3rd workstation down in Boston.
I have a difficult decision regarding my place of residence. I do love my tiny apartment - odd as that may sound to Kim. :p However, moving back to MA earlier than planned is now a realistic consideration upon receipt of today's news.

(I am very thankful to still have a job in this economy, especially one that remains with employee considerations such as receiving travel compensation.)

Dacker -- it's a 2 hour drive each way if you leave at 6am and are lucky with traffic; more if you sleep in, hit an accident, or other travel woes. The best deals: Parking is $7/day at the Alewife garage at the end of Rt 2 (spots are gone after 9:30am) plus $4 subway round trip; $10 at a certain garage in Boston across the channel (early bird rates only, $17 if you stay after 5pm); or you can take a bus from Londonderry NH for $20/day. I have coworkers who pay upwards of $400/mo to have a dedicated parking spot in Boston.

Oh dear, I'd take the basement office over that commute.

^ No, unfortunately they don't. :(

I like when someone pulls out in front of you, no one is behind you so they could have waited and then they give you the finger.

try driving a 7000 pound 40 year old car and have that happen while going 40mph.
i swear i have a sign on the hearse that says, "when there is no one behind me, please wait until the very last second to pull out in front of me and slow down"
it is rather funny to see the driver perk up when they hear the very loud horn the hearse has. my next step is to install an air horn like i had on the van!

Yeah Jared just told me today that he pays $3,600/yr for a parking garage spot.
eff that noise! damn

If you drive there daily, 3600/yr is honestly not that bad a deal.

Figure $10/day parking at a normal pay lot, for 20 days a month. It's non-dedicated so if you arrive after 9am you probably won't find a spot, and that's the early-bird rate so you'd pay more if you work late. If you go on weekends, you need to pay. And you end up paying $200/mo for all that, plus wear and tear on the car in Boston traffic.

The commuter rail, last time I took it (3 years ago), was $12/day plus $2 parking. I only imagine it's more now. Still adds up.

Having a dedicated spot for just a little bit more covers peace of mind, you can roll in at any time of any day and know you don't have to worry about finding a spot.

Funny you mention about a sign on the front of the hearse. I said to Ken one day...I swear there is a neon sign on the front of the Explorer that says: "Pull the hell out in front of me, I won't mind". It's insane how people drive these days.
At least you don't have a wimpy sounding horn like the Contour has. LOL!
Air horn FTW!

Paul, I've done the wave thing at people too. It's funny to see their reaction when they look back at you.

I agree! That and any commercial with Billy Mays.
:help::help::help:

I think people see a large vehicle and think that it will be going slow, so they cut out in front like that.
I get cut off in the truck quite a bit.
Some days I wish I could ram them, or at least have the truck suddenly animate into a shark with big sharp :censored::censored::censored::censored:ing teeth to chomp on the ass end of their car. :D

Just tailgate them. They will :censored::censored::censored::censored: themselves.

I used to think that, until I realized how I myself feel when driving behind a large vehicle.

I hate it. You can't see anything in front of you, you can't anticipate when the truck is going to stop suddenly, you can't see traffic lights, you're basically driving blind even if you give the truck 40 feet of room.

(That's no excuse .. just a possible reason  )

pet peeves when a customer comes in with a serious problem at closing time then leaves without doing the work

Blah, blah, blah.... I thought you were more interested in the Heep forums Glenn?
Anywho.. we're back in business now. :)
