I can imagine everyone on here that has some type of subwoofer has ridiculous trunk rattle. I know I do. I pin pointed the source of most of the noise and it came from my trunk latch. In order to kill this, i wrapped the male end of the trunk latch in two layers of electrical tape and bam! no more rattle.

Just be sure to close the trunk a few times before walking away, so that the tape works its way around the female end of the latch, and your trunk isn't open without you knowing about it.

Its ghetto, but it works.

Well this just seems too perfect....I spent ALL yesterday putting in RAAMat preparing for the sub on the way. Thanks for the extra tip

I've heard people did this with towels and fixed the problem as well. Too bad mine also rattled under my car, at my rear decklid, and everywhere else around that damn trunk.

That was with my old sub too. My new sub will be IN the car by summer

RAAMat

Pretty much only the mesh in my rear bumper and the rear deck rattle now. Not much i can do about the mesh, but i'm going to take my rear deck apart and try and somehow bolt it down tomorrow.

After installing all of this I found my rear mesh was the problem. But it doesnt sound like my trunk is full of angry squirrels trying to get out of my trunk.

I wish there was a tape trick for the rear mesh.

Subs, as in plural, would still rattle the trunk. you musta got lucky with a tightly built svt or something

my worst rattle was the 3rd brake light.

I just let mine float freely now because it shattered twice. Both the tabs exploded into oblivion so i'm currently looking for some alternative to bouncing, cheap, ford plastic in my rear deck.

Needs Less hand, and more roller

Good to hear! Couldn't really tell from the pic, wasn't very many smooth pieces. Did you only to the lid?

Yeah, I was thinking about doing the rest of the trunk. Since this is a sound dampening thread does anyone have the whole trunk done? Notice any difference?

I do... I really didn't remember what it sounded like before, but now it does not rattle hardly at all, and I have subs, most of the sound is retained inside the car... I need to take some pics of stuff...
