Quick and Easy Sound Dampening

Please do. Any pics of sound dampening material/tricks is great.

I took all the carpet on the bottom and sides out, and layed all my bottom pieces out, did my trunk lid, then did the shelf and sides... 1 layer of dynamat, used to 2 trunk kits... Good ol' heat gun and carpet roller works wonders!

It may be easy but that stuff isnt cheap. Whenever you get the chance take some pics and PM them to me so I dont miss them. Did you/anyone dynamat around the speakers?

I just got done doing my entire trunk (but i don't have a sub yet so I couldn't really tell you what the difference will be with or without it) and i also did my front doors (I don't have spekaers in the rear doors) I used a heat gun and just my hands and the back end of a screw driver for tight spots to mat it down good. I also used RAAMat (which i'd definitely recommend over dynamat, better and cheaper) though and i've heard its stickier than dynamat. You will be able to tell a difference. It sounds more "thuddish" when you close the doors and I also noticed a slight increase in the bass from my mids. I'll get some pictures of the trunk soon but i'm not gonna take any carpet off or the door panels, but you'll be able to see the spots that arent covered. Also a little tip, do the back of your license plate unless its tight as hell on your trunk lid.
EDIT: while banging around in the trunk to find rattles, I also found that even with RAAMat, the license plate still rattled, I went ahead and used that foam that was originally under the door panels and duct taped it to the back of my license plate. No rattle from there at all now =) Theres still something under the car though that rattles like a mofo. Anyone know what the kinda squarish black box is right under the spare tire well? or how to stop it from rattling?

Want to do the speakers just haven't done it yet... I get employee discount through best buy... so they were about half off :D

Yeah, I also have my entire trunk dynamatted. It took about 2 1/4 trunk kits to do the trunk and used the rest for my doors, rear deck, etc. I think it made a huge difference.

I used 2 trunk kits for mine..

Gotta love that BBY discount... that's the reason I was able to buy 3 kits for myself and not break the bank. PS I didn't use the entire 3 kits but I used about 2 1/4 for my trunk then some more for doors and such.

This wasn't the finished product for the trunk lid. I added a little bit more around the end to cover almost the entire thing. Sounds solid as hell when you shut the trunk. Sorry for the pic not embedded into the page... I don't know why it's not working.

Here's my license plate contraption...after RAAMating, I used the door foam i took and and duct taped it to the back of it. works like a charm.

tried to get as much of an overview shot as i could. kinda hard when holding the carpet floor up.

Here's the trunk lid, prolly gonna do some more there later if needed.

The sides of the trunk and doors look the same, too lazy to pull that stuff off though just for pics.

Look up "aluminum backed peel and seel" for a cheap alternative to "dynamat". It's exactly the same.. (rubber, asphalt and aluminum backing) for like $1/sqft where as if i recall... dynamat is around $5sq/ft

on a non contour vehicle....my extended cab ranger is about to recieve 120 sq. ft. of edead.

I've got about 240 sq. ft of edead in my Contour and I haven't even done the floors or the doors.

On average, I've done about 3 layers of eDead v1SE² everywhere except in the trunk that sometimes got 6 layers. eDead v4 TekLite went on top of most of it. The decklid got treated to layers of v1SE² both on top and on bottom.

The roof got about three layers of v1SE² and sometimes two layers of TekLite. Now, when you tap on the top of the roof, it sounds like it's made of 1/4 plate steel. Got rid of most of the road noise, well.

Expanding foam was sprayed everywhere I could in between sheet metal.

Sorry, no pics.

Actually, it was a 7 inch monitor. I know it was too "pimp my ride" however I got it free from a customer at work because we took it out of his car. It worked perfectly fine. I had it and me and my friends played some playstation on it just for fun for a while. I actually later sold it to another CEG'er. Basically it was free and that was the only place to put it considering it was JUST a monitor and I already had my AvicN2 up front.

Sounds just like my current radio :D!

well that just seems like crazyness haha

i actually measure out my truck and it'd need about 63 sq ft, so i was just going to get 60 sq ft since it's a little nicer on my budget and if need be i'll order another 60 sq ft

If I may, i'd like to point you towards http://www.raamaudio.com ....lucky for you, their rolls come in 62.5 sq ft... it will be much nicer than dynamat on your budget
