Thanks for the link, interesting stuff. I wish I had bought gauge with a high side valve so I could evacuate the system myself in the future. Oh well.

I will go easy with the next can, I think I'll only need a tiny bit of it, its cycling around 30 seconds or so at the moment and the high side is probably only 10 psi or so low.

there is a table that is in the Ford shop manual that tells you the amount of cycle on and off time based on the ambient temp .... or with the proper guage should come with a table that lists pressures for ambient temps ...

as for evacuating the system, it can all be done form the low side port ...

Thanks for that info brapple, I was kinda kicking myself. And my gauge set has the table but I thought it should run constantly so you may have just saved my system. I'll take a look on my ford cd and see if I can find the cycle time info as that would be good to know.
I have been watching the gauge pressures so I know that it still needs a little more, both are a bit low still. I bought another can of refrigerant last night and I will go finish the job in an hour or so (have to give the neighbours some time to sleep).

If it's cool there, the readings are supposed to be "low".

Again, refer to the chart to ensure you don't overcharge the system.
