Rialknight signing off CEG

I would imagine there are groups of Honda fans and VW fans, in which some owners have automatic transmissioned cars with speed parts, aftermarket wheels and lowered springs, majorly upgraded sound systems and wild paint jobs. And while those auto tranny owners are right to enjoy their cars, some manual tranny owners are snobs, purely on performance criteria.

Do Honda clubs and VW clubs ban/kick out automatic cars? I don't think so.
Neither does CEG.

If having an automatic Contour made this guy feel inferior, I hope he gets a bad case of peni$ envy if ever he parks his plain vanilla Lumina next to a Z34. He could have sought a car with some guts. It was his choice that he did not. Maybe he'll then have another tantrum, sell his ho-hum Lumina, and buy a trashed 1988 Corolla automatic and cry to car buffs that we're all mean to him when he buys troublesome vehicles.

I've never met the guy. But if he's not happy here and he is committed to being unhappy with us, his leaving is best for him. And us.

I don't think there's anything wrong with driving or loving or investing in a vehicle with an automatic transmission.

However, if someone really enjoys driving and hasn't learned to operate a manual transmission vehicle, they may be misisng out on years of enjoyment without realizing it. They may also lack the perspective to really 'get' a lot of enthusiast posts and issues as well.

Someone whom truly consider themselves to be a driving enthusiast really owes it to themselves to learn manual. It's not hard and only costs $60 and two hours if you pay someone to help you get started.

Correct. I think people may not have read me correctly. I was not referring to the people that own autos. I was referring to people who can't drive manuals. Just because someone owns a auto tranny car, doesn't mean that they can't drive a manual, and I'm not putting anyone down for that. My truck is an auto, although I now regret it. Stupid Ford ordering restrictions. I couldn't get the 6-speed manual with the XLT Sport package!! What does one have to do with the other???

One time I was driving my green 98 lumina down a 4 lane highway and a tire blew and sent me skidding head on into a retaining wall at sixty. It was a compact car after that as it took a good 3 or possibly 4 feet of the length of the car. The only injury I got was a scratch on my pinky from the airbag deploying. Talk about seeing your life flash before your eyes though.....

Nothin wrong with a little lumina action...

Tell me, what kind of panties do Contours make drop? Granny panties?

When I had just graduated high school, the girlies thought my teal 96 GL was a cute car...

I think there's a higher chance of a grandma driving a Lumina (old engineering/sytling) over a Contour (too 'sporty').

Contours are also fairly safe from what I've read on here... a few people had major accidents and walked away.

And to RialKnight... why did you get a Lumina when you're mad that a Contour is hard to mod? WTF are you going to mod on a Lumina? Have fun modding the [more than likely] 3.1L OHV V6!

At least the back seat is big, so you can get some action... well... if you can get action.

lol 95 SE ownz all

Hit the nail right on the head!
WoW! I came late into this thread....
If someone said that crap about the CEG meet being for SVTs is a douche bag and does not have a clue.

Sorry you decided to leave CEG, Lamonte. I am a perfect example of a nonSVT owner having plenty of people backing up what I do. I wish I could list all the things that SVT owners want off of the '95 SEs but there are tooooo many. I had fun hanging out and wish you luck. - JOE

SZ was for SVT Contours only? Wh-wh-wh-what?

Consider that 1. a non-SVT Contour won best paint, and 2. that there is an AWARD for Best Troll and Best Non-SVT!!! C'mon, man. Don't make some crap up about someone saying that SZ was for SVT Contours, because there's no way in hell that anyone at SZ (who is a CEG'er) would have said that. I don't buy it. And even if someone DID say that, use some common sense and look at some of the "old timers" who were there.

Myself, Alex, Kev, Barge, Hector, to name a few aren't even driving Contours! And we seemed to get along with everyone just fine. But, we were making an effort to hang out and *gasp* socialize. Not "see GR," as you put it. Just because the Contour brought us together doesn't mean it's the ONLY thing that keeps us together.

Good luck with the Lumina. Good luck with your life outside of CEG. Too bad you opted to burn the bridge behind you.

PS... I LEARNED to drive standard on my SVT the day I picked it up. Two hours in a parking lot with someone who knows how to drive it is all you need.

Since I bought my LS, and sold the SVT, I forgot how to drive a manual.. :help:

poor poor Mark.....

I learned stick when I bought my car too, not before. I just went back and fourth in my driveway until I got the feel of the clutch.
