not even sure what section this belongs in. im wondering if anyone makes a kit to put a cage in a contour? or if its all custom. thank you very much guys.

edit:i searched ,for a while and found nothing.

Pretty sure it will be custom. My tint guy also does metal fab and he gave me a price for a really good cage at $1300 or a decent cage at $900 in my cougar. Maybe one day I will look more into it but my main purpose would be for body stiffness, and they look pretty cool too.

i'm not a ricer :squint: lol

im looking to put it in for safety. and body stiffness

Yeah prob be custom. Google cover boy flips (mustang) and see why bolt ins are a terrible idea, the dudes lucky to be alive. I know a guy that races late models and he knows plenty of people who put in cages. Where are you located about I can ask him if you want.. but if you want a good one expect atleast 2k id say and you'll be stripping the car to put it in..

i got a guy to do it, he does our racin teams cars. just thought i'd ask before i went to him to do it.

Yeah, good choice he can probably get you a pretty sweet deal. I looked into doing it once but couldn't bring my self to invest that much. One day when i have a job, i'll learn to weld well and but a junker car slap a rally rollcage in it and go nuts with it...one day...

If you are putting a roll cage in your contour, I hope you are also planning on proper seats, a harness and a helmet for when you are driving it..... you would hate to see what happens in a car accident when you hit that roll cage unprotected.

If you want some more body stiffness, look into subframe connectors and see if anyone still has any front and rear strut tower bars anymore. IDK if you can find any heavier swaybars anymore either, but you can look..... Subframe connectors and strut tower bars make a world of difference.... a roll cage is just for check me out I'm a ricer or for a track car.

Not necessarily. I mean sure, if you mean FULL roll cage, then yes don't drive that everyday with the bars in the front of the cabin close to the driver's head. If the OP just wanted to do a roll bar, where the actual cage part is in the rear part of the cabin, then that is driveable everyday. But proper seats and harnesses are a must, like you said.

Also, another option for rear sway bars are the custom "adjustable" Bat 19mm swaybars. You need to do some drilling at the mounting points, but that is one of the stiffest swaybars you can get. I think the Bat 21mm are still available, no? Oh, and the rear strut tower brace is the most important strut tower brace, save your money and spend it on something else (not saying you personally FIND).

This isnt really related to what you wanna do... but if you wanna see some awesome rollcages and stuff check the projects section out of this
vtcar.com
they build rally cars... it's pretty impressive

Rally cages are obviously overkill for a normal track... your probably not going to be going 100+, inches from cliffs and trees... but just interesting to watch

the car will be doing alot of track stuff and might drive it to work once a week or something. but im not a ricer :squint: . im looking for performance and safety. i'm a safety coordinator so safety is number 1
