Sunroof Fuse/Relay?

Today once I got home from work I attempted to shut my sunroof and nothing happens... its 100% completely dead, basically almost like I blew a fuse or something but I dont see one listed in the owners manual.

History in a nutshell is that my car has low miles and the sunroof has always worked perfectly.

It was vented at work and once I came out I opened it all the way - it went back flawlessly, no abnormal noise or movement. Fluid and normal as usual. I get home open the garage door and go to close the sunroof and nothing happens. There is no motor movement or noise at all - I decided to check the switch to see if it was good so I removed it and swapped in a spare Cougar one I still had here at home, same result so I just put the Contour one back in. Again dead as hell and firmly plugged in.

Is there some sorta fuse or relay that is not listed in the manual that I might have blown somehow? I'm not entirely sure that I want to just write it off as a dead motor.. its worked flawlessly for as long as I have owned it.

I pray for no rain any time soon.

Can't help you with diagnosis, but I want to let you know you can close the moonroof without the motor. Take off the motor cover and there is a bolt you can turn with a wrench. See here for other info.

thanks for the message link... it helped as I think my sunroof was just too far back in its housing.

I removed the entire motor assembly last night and had plans of swapping it with Akrat's (my man) SVT in the morning to see what would happen.

but after reading that I looked everything over to see if I could figure out what area I was to wrench or rachet on and couldnt figure that out. I saw only 1 area and that was basically the big nut that holds in the threaded post which sits inside the white plastic "cog or gear" that I assume everyone strips out? I racheted on that with a huge socket both ways and it didnt look like either direction did anything at all but move the post and nut.

so - I just put the motor back in with those 3 screws and plugged the harness back up to it and bickity bam it worked again and I was able to shut it completely.

But... if this happens again how would I close it manually with the socket/wrench? Are people referring to removing the entire silver casing or the black plastic casing on the other side. Or lastly the silver cylinder shaped thing which I would take to be the actual motor "guts"?

I wouldnt have to remove the black metal bracketing thing which the motor assembly screws into right?

Thanks in advance... it is appreciated!!

this exact issue just happened to me today. put my roof back and when i got to the office and clicked the close button nothing happended.. no noise or movement. Ive read all of the posts and have already tried, banging the motor, removing the 3 screws , the relays and reinstalled but nothing happens. right now i have cardboard and tape covering my half opened sunroof! PLEASE HELP!!! Is there a pic detailed thread on how to close manually with socket and wrench? We have alot of RAIN in the next 2 days your speedy HELP is much appreciated!

I am not 100% on this, so feel free to corect me if I am wrong. I think you need to remove the motor assembly and use a suitable socket on the drive shaft of the roof mechanism to close it manually. I have had mine apart to mod the motor and it looks like it would be easy to turn the drive shaft manually. Hope this helps.
