svt focus vs. svt contour

I drove and liked both before buying the CSVT.
FSVT: newer, warranty, some nicer options (sound, HID, Euro package)
CSVT: better looking, 4-doors, V6 w/ same mpg, more unique
Just my quick thoughts.

I drove a 2002 SVT Focous before I bought my SVT Contour the Focus is a nice fun car but I really like the room the Contour has being that it's a 4 door. I would say there is a bigger aftermarket for the Focus if your looking to upgrade but it is still possible to do the Contour. Bottom line it comes down to what your going to be doing with the car, if you find one you like in your price range and which you like more. The Contour suited my taste more which is why I went with it.

An advantage of the FSVT is that there are more add-ons and accessories. I really wish they did have more "goodies" for the Contours. I want to own one of each (FSVT+CSVT).

Well who doesn't want the complete SVT collection...

  • 1984-1986 Mustang SVO
  • 1993 SVT Mustang Cobra (Gen I)
  • Gen I Lightning
  • Gen II Lightning
  • Gen II Cobra
  • Gen III Cobra
  • SVT Contour
  • SVT Focus
  • Ford GT
Onne of each please !!!!

That would be nice! And a stock low mileage perfect shape one of each, along with a bad built monster mofo of each.

SVT Focus comes in 4 doors also.

My buddy has a SVT Focus and I love it. It's got nice power for a car that size, handles really nicely, but stock for stock, I'll take an SVT Contour. The Focus is equipped with nicer options though. Recaro heated leather, HIDs, sound system, 17" wheels.

Ive driven both, to me SVT focus is a better car, it has sharper handleing, a really good traction control system, and in 5 door form, is a better all arounder, having more passenger volume and the ability to fold the rear seats down allowing for more luggage capacity, plus the interior build quality is better, the stereo is better, the trans is... well im going to say pretty much even along with the MTX-75, but feels smoother than the MTX-75, and it looks less "boy racer" with a much more modest body kit.

im not saying the CSVT is junk or anything, but if someone said to me "I will give you a free 2004 Focus SVT with 50K miles, or a free 2000 Contour SVT with 50K miles" I probably would go with the Focus

The Getrag 6 speed is decent, but the MTX-75 just feels so much nicer. The Getrag in that car is pretty weak too. They can't take much additional power.

And I don't have a clue how you can say the Focus is less "boy racer". The Contour is definitely more modest between the two cars. It has more class and a more "mature" looking car.

I agree 100% ... SVT Contour is much less boyish than the focus, and the 4 door SVT foci look funny to me. I love 4 doors, but if I had to buy a SVT focus I would sacrifice 2 doors.

The Focus has a much larger aftermarket. One of the companies that offers many performance mods is Cosworth. One of the conversations I've heard Focus guys talking about was the FSVT 2.0L vs the newer Focus (non-SVT) 2.3L... that the 2.3L makes a decent amount more power than the 2.0L.

Really? I always thought the SVTF was tastefully designed and wasnt over the top at all.

I think both are very well designed and not over the top at all, I just prefer the tour granted why I have had so many.... picking up my 9th one in a few days. :) Too many SVT's to fit in my garage. :(

Having owned both , I can say that Alias actually has many points to his post . The SVT Focus has very similar-feeling power to the CSVT , the gearbox feels great to me (very german-feeling) , and is a 6-speed . It has equal , if not more nimble steering and better brakes - no doubt . Stock 17" wheels are nice too . It also has some goodies that the SVT Contour is/was lacking , like one-touch lighted moonroof switch , heated side mirrors , stainless tubular 4-2-1 headers , oil temp & pressure gauges , cool aluminum pedal covers , electro-luminescent gauges , 6-disc CD changer w/amp & subwoofer , auto-volume and steering wheel controls (get that stuff w/audiophile system) , winter package gets ya heated seats , block heater & traction control , optional HID headlights , fold-flat rear seats & a hatchback . I KNOW I missed a bunch of stuff (like an AWESOME aftermarket) , but ya get the point .
I loved the Contours I've owned (10 years worth) , and miss them very much , but the SVT Focus is a fun car to drive also and had loads of good points . The one thing I don't like about the Focus is it's boy-racer following that you (generally) don't have with the Contour crowd .

AliasJerk;317255 im not saying the CSVT is junk or anything said:
i'd take to FSVT too........but i'd sell it, buy a CSVT, and use the profit to throw a turbo in :)

but in all seriousness, the way i see it
CSVT- better styling, better engine, 6cyl, more int room
FSVT- better aftermarket, newer, 6speed, better interior

I would imagine the trans would feel very good because I heard its the same transmission used in the mini cooper, and I can't see BMW having a bad feeling trans, I've owned bmws and their manual transmissions felt very good to me.
