SZ07 Gingerman thread!

I'm debating on whether or not I want to try this...

I've got no experience driving on a course and I've got no suspension mods. I suppose between now and then I could do struts, springs, strut tower braces and subframe connectors...

Maybe I should take my car up to BIR in MN and take some rounds up there to see how I fair (assuming they have some open track nights between now and May 16th). That way if something brakes I'm not to far from home.

What do you guys think? Should I pursue taking the CSVT out on the track at Gingerman as is? I would bring a set of rotors and pads for the track.

Go ahead and try it. If you don't like it, or feel like you're in over your head, park your car and watch, or score a ride with one of the other guys.

I certainly don't condone beating the :censored: out of your car, but honestly the best way to get experience is to do it. Start at a comfortable speed and speed things up whenever you're ready.

One thing I've never seen this group do is criticize someone who freely admits their shortcomings and works actively at strengthening their abilities. In fact, a number of people in this group would be an excellent resource if you want pointers, etc. No need to feel like you have to be Dale Earnhardt your first time (or second, or third...) time out on the track.

Personally, I'm coming with my street tires, street pads, street rotors ... and no spares. I like my car. I won't want to Buckshot it.

We'll see what you're saying when a lowly WRX is wompin' on you :)

Coilovers are lookin sexy on my living room floor.. can't wait to get them on.

I already have some new tires in mind, just need the current round of mods to be complete so the car is driveable again  Can't wait to get back on the track

Hey, I'm counting on your coilovers. I have to decide which I'm getting, the KWv3 or the RCE. Hopefully I can bribe you into a ride after a beer or two and see if the linear-rate springs give me the feel I'm looking for....

Too bad I won't have them on in time for this year's SZ.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$

$$$$$$$$$$$$$

So who wants to put some money on this little venture.

Word on the grape vine is that someone might be showing up with a lap timer...

Oh... and I'm still waiting another 2 weeks for my top hats to put on my coilovers... Grrrrr... i need to get some practice in.

word on the street is mustang with 400+rwhp can compensate for ****ty driving.

I guess we'll see but don't be mad when your lap times SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trust me many a cobra/lightnings have fallen prey to CSVT's on a road course.

Money on ... lap times? Fssh. That wouldn't make it more fun for me. I'd only put money on it if I was willing to go balls-out (not in the Elky sense) on the track, which I'm not with this car. Ever since it became my daily driver, I'm been a bit less eager to risk its health with off-track excursions.

I thought the hats came with the RCE's? Hope you get them on in time....
