Taurus Pulley Removal Help

That's why I use a 1/2" drive big breaker bar and a hardened air socket for busting things like that loose. Although with my SHO I just did the ratchet on the floor trick and bumped the starter. That doesn't work unless the motor is still hooked up though lol.

I finally got mine off. I did like was posted above and cut the shaft off behind the pulley. Then used a 24mm socket and impact wrench and it popped right loose. This was all after breaking a 1/2" drive ratchet, a 16mm deepwell socket, and a 1/2-3/8 adaptor.

so you used a 3/8 adapter in a breaker bar application and your surprised it broke?

well technically it doesn't need to be in the car, just needs the trans bolted to it and 12v to the starter....

I didn't say I was surprised. It was my last option at the time. And like it matters, it's Craftsman.

I've broke several 1/2" to 3/8" adapters craftsmen ones that were not impact grade and I was using it with my 1/2" impact which by the way popped my taurus pulley off the dampner right away just remembered the left hand thread. 04 with 46k miles

get the Craftsmen impact grade 1/2" to 3/8" adapter haven't broken it yet....

ya know what I've never broken? snap-on....

the napa brand tools are pretty tough too though, just make sure it's napa and not that other brand, the napa stuff is warrantied.

my 1/2-3/8 adapter is a black impact one though...
