The End

Yeah it doesnt look toooo bad up close...but its still enough for a hefty bill. Im not planning no getting the fender and bumper fixed anytime soon. Just the internals so i can get her back on the road.

I've got a question. We turned it into insurance (Nationwide)

If they choose to total it, can we back out and say, hey...we'll fix it ourselves? Can we do that, or after it's in with the insurance, there is no way out?

thanks

what you can do, is if they total it they will give you the option of buying the car back, provided you have full coverage you can dip into your check on that and get the car and a chunk of money.

You can use that chunk of money to repair the car, so I HIGHLY suggest doing it as cheaply as possible so you have some money left over. Again, junkyard runs, contacting CEG'ers, any friends you might have willing to lend a hand.

Mechanically, what you need to do to fix what looks bad on the car doesnt look very hard to repair, However, for the future I would really suggest putting stock wheels back on with a good all-season or winter tire for the winter. The wider the tire you have the worse the snow traction is going to be, unless you have a snow tire.

I had all season tires on my old E1 wheels and they BLEW in the winter, as soon as I put my cheap-o steel wheels with 185/65R14 cheap-o tires back on, it was a night and day difference, sure it looks like hell to put the stockers back on (I have ST200 wheels too :( and I miss them ) but putting my junk stock wheels back on has saved me 3-4 times already.

Well guys good news and bad news. We talked to the insurance company and they wanted to total it for $2800...yikes. So instead of totaling it, we are fixing it on our own.

We looked around, and found one of the best suspension shops around and they said they could do it for $1200. It's still a lot, but its cheaper than buying a new car.

The bad news is that it might not get fixed. If he gets in there and finds damage done to the transmission, rack and pinion or something big like that, I don't know what we will do. Chances are, once we are in this, we are in this, so whatever we find...will most likely get repaired.

Of course, the body will still show the damage and ill be sporting the stock rims ...but that I can live with for a while

Im still holding my breath...

Im glad Ill have my car back soon!!!

Take the $2800 and the $1200 you would put into it for repairs and buy a SVT.

Well the $2800 was the estimate for the repairs that the insurance came up with. So they insurance would have only given me probably about $1400 for the car...if that

WOOHOOO!!! That car does NOT deserve to die. Not at all. It just looks too good

**UPDATE**

**UPDATE**

Well I just went a picked up the car from the shop. The bill totaled $1293.15 but it was worth it!

The car drives like the day i bought it, contrary to my beliefs...

If you don't look at the right front area of the car, you would never know it was in an accident as bad as it was. They did a GREAT job!

I never thought I would ever drive the car again, but I am glad to have her back!

Pics to come...

so...you're saying you can see obvious evidence of an accident then right?

Well the Fender is still bent and there is a big gash in the bumper. Ill fix those down the line when I have the money. But at least i have 4 working wheels!
