My brother called Tire Rack yesterday about trying to get a credit for the lowered price on the tires and they said "We don't ever do that. Who ever told you that was wrong." :rolleyes:

I guess it all just depends on who you talk to over there.

Just calling in and talking to whomever I would expect that. Should have contacted your original salesperson. Probably when you ordered somebody emailed or called you informing of the old tire mfg dates. Using that same contact person try again. And person you talked to is correct, they don't have a policy for price guarantee. But salepeople have some leeway to do these things. If you are polite and genuine sometimes it works.

Here's what I emailed and worked:
Dear xxx,

Thanks again for your help last month when I ordered these tires. Your extra effort to make sure I was ok with old DOT dates was appreciated.

I was looking at your site today and noticed that you have further dropped the price on exact tire I purchased from $56 to $49. Does Tire Rack have any price guarantee? Significant price drop in a short period of time.

For some reason though, we didn't get a call from Tire Rack after making the order. My brother made the order while at school, and within a few days they showed up at the house. He left the home address and contact information but there were no calls from them. :shrug:

i need a set of tires. 205/50/16s ok for 98 svt? whats the best way to get them installed? Removal of current tires and put on new ones?

the size is alittle small but it will work ... as for install :help: you go to a tire place and have it done ...
 
Don't forget it costs around $100 to have all 4 tires mounted and balanced, and the old tires recycled.

$100 is pretty steep price. Go to Walmart instead
tire mount $3.50
balance $5.00
out the door for less than $40

valve stems $2.00 a wheel if needed
you also can add $2.50 a tire for lifetime balance and rotation

Now normally I wouldn't reccommend Walmart for any auto service but hard to screw up a tire mount. And if they do they are responsible and do take care of you. Just check all your lug nuts afterward to be safe.

I wouldn't even take wheels to walmart to have tires put on them if they where off the car ...

Oh, and I got a set of 4 F1 GS D3's myself. Waiting to get my new suspension (BAT) to put them on, though, so I can get a proper alignment.
 
Hmm, I guess Discount Tire isn't the place to go for mounting and balancing. Oh well at least I get life time balancing.
 
this is a damn good deal. im sorry i just saw this thread!

how would it be having only 2 of these and a "lesser" pair on the opposing end?
