A quick speaker install in the back doors (all connections soldered):

and a little something I figured I would try just to see what the outcome would be:

Wow...the flash makes it BLACK!

The idea here was to see if I could do an acceptable job on the doors. If so, then I'll only pay to have the back window done. This way I get the tint percentage I want, and my total outlay will be significantly less than $100, as opposed to the $175 it cost to have my '98 tinted.

I'm happy with the results I got with this first window. I'm going to give it a couple of days sitting outside in the sunny 80 degree weather and let any residual bubbles evaporate. If I am still happy with the results, it's on to the next window!

I have yet to decide if the front doors get 5% or 20%. My 75 year old father will be doing a lot of driving in this over the BABE Rally, and I can already hear the b!tch!ng in my head. I'll have to think on this one.

It looks good man!!! The tint looks like what you can usually pick up at walmart or advanced auto etc...

Got it at Wally World. I sprang for the "Best" level. It was $12.99 for the roll, good for about two windows. The cheaper stuff was $9.99/roll. I figured the three bucks was probably worth it. Make sure you buy the bottle of "Tint On" and some distilled water.

speaking of tint...there are precut tint kits for our cars on ebay. I've also been considering getting these, doing the door windows, and just getting th rear done professionally. Anyone have thoughts on this?

anywhere from 40-60 shipped for a full car kit. Even comes with a single rear window piece. I wouldn't dare try that one though.

Looking sweet!! I had intended to change out the speakers. But with the repairs getting in the way, never could. Tint looks great, nice job. I bet she's feeling better already.

Looks good. But going and paying $120 to have it done with a lifetime warranty is still my choice. I could see myself getting really frustrated trying to tint windows.:blackeye: And those speakers look similar to my pioneer 5x7's that I have. Although I think mine say pioneer around the tweeter.

Donald, it's going to look GREAT with black windows and a blacked-out B-pillar against the tan....'scuse me....champagne. :D

On a sadder note, the head gasket has finally said, "Screw you!" She's started running very rough and is difficult to start. So sometime in the next two weeks I'll be replacing it. Haven't decided whether or not to replace the timing belt or not. We'll see.

I'll be moving soon, and there's no guarantee that I can find a shop that is located in both states and would honor any warranty. Besides, the door glass is simple enough for me to do, and if I damage the tint down the line I just have to pop in to the nearest WalMart. I'll definitely pay a shop to tint the back glass though. I bet I'd botch the crap out of that!

To make you guys jealous I can get mine professionally tinted with a lifetime warranty for $50. Rocks knowing the owner.

Edit: 5% all the way around btw
