I am looking at purchasing a new ATV, and was wondering if my Contour can tow it? I have a Duratec, in a 1996, with intake and exhaust.

I am looking to tow about 1000-1500 lbs, including the vehicle and the trailer.

Where can I find some specs on the capabilities of this vehicle?

Some rere put a trailer hitch on my svt before I got it. Cut a nice hole for it in the rear bumper as well. Brake light harness is still hooked up in the trunk

Haha reminds me of the pre-98 I saw driving the other day (didn't get a chance to see model, but no sideskirts, so probably a zetec) towing a boat bigger than it was! I don't know how it was doing it, but I'm sure it wasn't easy.

Don't punish the contour like that, what did it ever do to you? it's a car, you can pick up a little ranger for $500 and then you can have a truck to do it with.

My SVT had a hole in the rear bumper for a trailer hitch. :nonono: Still has all the wiring for it in the trunk as well. Fiberglassed it back up to it looks almost decent....better than having a huge hole in it.

You could easily pull 1500lbs if its an mtx. Depending on the distance though, I wouldn't go cross country or anything.

Don't let these guys discourage you :) I've pulled about 1500lbs with my 4 cylinder 5 speed probe (two snowmobiles, trailer was two feet wider then my car) and it wasn't pretty, but doable. Mind you I only pulled the sleds to the local trails about 5-10 miles from home to get me riding. I've also trailered my 3 wheeler which is a little lighter then the 4 wheeler will be but not that much... It wasn't too bad, pulled it for about 150 miles each way. Still got 25mpg with the AC on
