Who is the best place to get a rebuild kit for the SVT trans? I see talk of upgrading them with Focus stuff but is there a kit or is it a send off only thing? The reason I ask is I have a 3rd grind when rodding it and figure I might as well look into a stiff rebuild.
Thanks

Unless you have the proper tools to do the job, you are better off sending the MTX to someone like Terry Haines and having all the right things done to it. He's on the other Contour site but you can search on his name here and probably find out what you need to do.

Well what all is put into these trannys. I heard talk of Focus parts, can anyone enlighten me?

If you'd ask the expert I suggested, I'm sure you'd find out. Off hand I'd say, if you've got bad synchros then they'd be replaced along with any other worn (brass) parts. The Focus shift tower is a modification, not a repair. While the MTX is out and apart, adding a LSD would be prudent as well. There's no "rebuild kit" for the MTX. That's AT(X) speak.

Terry Haines can modify your current shift tower to fix the design flaw rather than using the Focus tower. He can coat the internals, repair anything worn or busted and install the Quaife or Torsen for a fixed rate of labor. He can even swap out a different final drive ratio if you're willing to pay for it.

Yeah, no rebuild kits, that's how they rebuild them in the first place right... I would like to let you know I'm not a complete idiot, I already know the manual transmission (yeah I can spell it out) has bad syncros, I know you would be retarded not to replace them anytime you have the transmission out anyway, I may not be some Super Tech but I'm also not a f*cktard. There is no reason for you to speak to me like that. I won't even go into your word choice at this point, that will come later. I just wanted to know what parts were swapped in to make this trans beefier, holding up to a possible 3L Turbo someday.

Easy there, turbo. 98SVTC pointed you in the right direction. You could have entered "Terry Haines" into the search and found what you were looking for, right? You could have even searched for "sychros" and probably found out.

Then, you asked the same question, without having searched, and 98SVTC still gave you more information that you could have found out by doing some simple research. Instead of complaining about his language, maybe you should say "thanks" and then do some research for yourself.;)

No need to get defensive. I'm pretty sure everyone was just trying to be helpful and informative, not talk down to you. No one here can assume what you do or don't know so being complete and concise in a response is hardly being derogatory.

Sorry if you thought I was talking down to you. It wasn't my intention and I didn't think that I was. However you asked a question regarding the Focus shift tower a second time that could have been answered if you'd followed my suggestion in my first reply. Moving on, it is my understanding that parts in the manual TRANSAXLE, not transmission, are replaced as needed unless you tell the shop to replace everything whether it needs it or not. The reason is that those parts aren't cheap. You might as well replace the whole MTX as you'd end up replacing everything but the case! Finally, your original post did not specify beefing the MTX up for a 3L however I did suggest the LSD modification while the thing was apart which I suppose made me somewhat of a prognosticator.

I just did a rebuild on my focus transmission. Most of the transmission is similar. I have a 3.82 final that will work in your car and keep you in boost longer for better acceleration and save gas. The big trick to this rebuild is having the parts, time, tools, and the correct ford manual. You definitely need bearings and syncros. Is your differential in good shape? Do you have enough money for a lsd? oh I can also get you parts cheaper than the dealer.

umm... what weight you d-bag. I've already seen the praise for that **** but everything I run across is automatically 75-90w when I search for it online. Or do you not know what that means?

I've never seen the oil weight on the Royal Purple Syncromax. I believe there is only one weight and that is what you need. And you will soon find that your attitude is going to make you a lot of enemies around here and soon enough nobody will be answering your questions. And here's a link to what you need just so your brain doesn't overheat when you're trying to find it.

Who cares what weight it is? Is that going to change your mind? If it is then I can't help ya. How about you call RP or email? Page 35 of the '06 RP Catalog.

If you search on this site, you'll find that synchromax stuff and the Ford honey are the only two recommended. So whatever weight they are (I don't think it said on the Ford bottles) is what is recommended.

The only other lube I found with reference to spec WSD etc etc,was on Amsoil...Not sure if they still do. A Castrol Germany site also references it...TH
