Trouble on cold mornings...

I also had oil on a spark plug - the center one in the back (Duratec, like I said). Not sure which number it is. Could the valve cover also be
my issue?

it could be. the duratec valve covers use a seal for the outside of the cover and individual seals for the spark plugs.

I put in the new gasket yesterday and for the most part things went well. I cleaned everything the best I could and placed the valve head with the new gasket back on the engine. Then I was placing the o-rings in the holes, only to get to the 9th one and discover one of them was split! So I went back to the Autozone, but I had bought the last one. I then had to drive to the next closest location, about 25 minutes away. The guy at that store was not happy with me brining it back. He was like "well, you would have to buy a whole new kit" and I was like, "no, it came that way, what the heck am I supposed to do about it." So he went out back, brought the gasket set up front, opened it, and then through the o-ring package at me. So now I have an extra nine o-rings, LOL.

But it looks as if there are no leaks, although I still get nervous though. I learned that "tight is tight" not "torque is tight" so it feels like the nuts are not tight enough to me, LOL. I torqued them to a little over five foot pounds. Oh well, as long as it does not leak

if you looked at the seal you would notice that it comes to a point where it is meant to seal, to much pressure and you could fold the seal over and then it wouldn't seal.

glad to hear that it went well.
