What is this cover in engine bay?

I took my car into the shop a few weeks ago and just now noticed this cover, which obviously covers some wires; I can now see the wires; is missing. This picture is not of my engine, I found it on here. I just wanted to point out what cover I am talking about.

So my question is, what is this cover? And would Bill Jenkins sell it?

I know the shop did something to the cover, broke it or something, because they zip tied the wires together under there. Also what wires are those.

I attached the picture to this post and circled the place I am talking about.

Are you talking about the black cover that holds the blue wires in place? If so, those are spark plug wires, and the "clip" hold them in place so they don't get burnt on the hot valve cover. I would try a junkyard first.

No, I don't think so. I dont know, I will take a picture a little later and post it up, to show exactly where I am talking.

Ok. I took a picture of the wires that I think were covered by something. I have never seen these wires out like this, that is why I am thinking there was a cover of some sort over them. There had to be something covering them.

looks like the wires came free of the vertical plate they attached to that is mounted at the front edge of the valve cover ...

As far as i know, there is no cover for those wires. At least there isnt a cover on my 96 to my knowledge. Btw, those are the 3 main engine harnesses.

If that is what happened, came away from the vertical plate, how were they attached to it? Also is it ok if they are like that?

Correct. No cover for that section of the engine harness.

As stated earlier, they are part of the engine main harnesses. The 3 large connectors are where the fuel injector harness and its 9 or so connectors connect.

What work was being done to the car?

It looks like the connector on the left with the tie wrap around it probably isn't fully locked hense the tie wrap holding it together. These large connectors need a firm push together for the tab to lock. Check to see if the other connectors are locked.

The guy doing the work probably broke the tabs on the side of the connector that normally would snap into the vertical bracket along the rear valve cover, making for a neat appearence.
