Doing routine maintenance (and searching for an oil leak) on teh Cougar, I found this. What is it? Nothing was hooked to it.

Is it obvious I'm not used to the Duratec yet? :blackeye:

I thought that that was more above the ac compressor not the oil filter

If that's the oil filter mount just below it, my guess would be an engine block heater. My SVT has the same thing in the same general area.

That would make sense, the terminals are fairly substantial. Ill check the SVT tomorrow if I have the time.

For those who are unfamiliar with northern climes, that's a block heater installed in the H2O jacket. You're missing the electrical cord which attaches to the 2 prongs and terminates with a standard 3 prong electrical plug. All Canadian Fords of our vintage (90's) came with block heaters whereas they were optional in the US. My 3.0 which came from an '01 CDN Taurus did not have a block heater.

As a side note, I've worked on a SVT from MN which (surprise, surprise) did not have a block heater. They need 1 there more than we do here!
