where to buy quality cross-drilled rotors (rear)

Often that noise can come from sticky calipers or sticky pads. Escorts were famous for that problem when the caliper slide pins were dry and started to gaul. IIRC there are no slide pins on the rear disc systems on our cars, but if the area of the caliper that the pad backing plate slides on is dry or rusty or if you didn't bother to lubricate that slide area you can have that sort of a problem.

The pads I like on the rear of my car the best is Satisfied Ceramics. The Raybestos semi-metallics would not hold the park brake when cold. The Bendix organics made a strange "squawk" sound when first backing up in the morning.

Go back to brakes basic 101 and recheck your installation. Proper lubrication of the correct places makes the difference between a so-so brake job and an excellent one.

I also have ebay drilled and slotted front and rear and they have been fine.

Thanks for the info Jim. I think I'm just going to get new rotors anyway b/c the rears are looking pretty shabby anyway. Can you link me to the brand of rotors you got off E-bay? Are the BAT rotors not worth the price?

Thanks

I can't answer about the BAT rotors as I have never bought them.

The first set of rotors I bought through ebay, stock size for the SVT, were from Unit Imports. They were drilled and slotted for $133.00. When I did the Warmonger upgrade I bought a set of Focus SVT front rotors for $59.00. I can't find the company name, but his ebay name is kooltech99. They are also drilled and slotted.

I also bought a set of blanks for the Escape through ebay from R1. All of these have been fine.

Magnum rotors have gotten good reviews at various forums accross the internet. Their ultra series of rotors is cadmium plated and heat treated.

my full set from R1 came in today. They look to be very nice quality. Now I need to look for the changing rotors how-to
