ford did the worst thing with mustangs... make them affordable to every person instead of keeping it a semi-rare sports car like firebirds and camaros

That's what I like to hear!
The new Taurus is quite a car, now that its got 263 nags stuffed under the hood, but it's going to seem like a behemoth coming from the UK market. I'd certainly give it the quality nod over the Charger. The Fusion is a good car, though not as visceral as some of the others you mentioned. Will you only be looking at new?
Are you originally from Europe? If you're going to be here for "a short stint", might as well get something you can't get over there!I think I might just get away with a 3-series or S40/A4

First, a more powerful variation of that engine is available in two cars in Ford's US lineup, the Shelby GT500 and the GT, so quit whining. Plus, this NA 5.4L 4V V8 engine was available EIGHT years ago in the US, albiet in a slightly less powerful form in the 00 Cobra R.
Second, The Falcon doesn't pass US crash standards.
Third, GM already tried doing exactly what a lot of you are asking for, they took the direct competitor for this car, made it US legal, and imported it as the GTO witht he big V8 in it, and BARELY ANYONE ACTUALLY BOUGHT THEM. How many of you drooling over this Falcon and begging for it to be brought here would ACTUALLY buy one? And I'm not talking about "if you had the money" I'm talking about if Ford imported them for the 2008 model year, would you spend the cash? None of you I'd imagine. The reason Ford of Australia can do that car is because they sell a large number of the standard Falcons there that subsidize the produciton of the higher performance versions. Much the same way the fact that Ford US sells a ton of V6 mustangs allows them to produce the lower volume V8s and Cobras/Shelbys and still make a little money. This is why the camaro and firebird died before, they didn't sell hardly any V6 cars (because the car was junk, and the only good thing about it was the LSx powertrain options) and couldn't make any money on only the V8 cars.
