Its annoying, rude, and can hurt the other persons fs thread.
If that person belives he can get $40 for an item and you thread cap and say its not worth that, then others might start beliving that weather its true or not. If you don't like the price keep it to your self or at the least give a pm.

because it is par tof the forum rules that you agreed to when you created your user name ....
so you can't post prices for an item you are selling unless it is in the classifieds ....

This is actually the first forum that I have been a part of that you are not required to list the price when you are selling something. I personally feel that selling prices should be mandatory in for sale threads.
