yup

Bumper sag :(

Spray the bolts for what? Betcha they aren't rusty :D

I'll try the fix while I'm at it and see if I can get something to fill the rest of the hole to keep it from sagging right away again.

Wonder if steel putty would be strong enough to fill the holes. I would think that would be the easiest way.

I read somewhere (and maybe even saw pictures) of someone putting small bolts in the hole under the actual stud on the car. I would think I can come up with something more creative than that

Yup, there are pics. When I was dinking around on mine, you can work on it without taking the bumper off.

Yep my former SVT was in the pics of the How-to, from when James had the car.

Doesn't look to hard at all! I need to do that among other things when I get my car back on the road.

Just ordered up four new shoes, mounted, balanced, and out the door for....(drum fill, please)...$396.56.

Horray! :D

For what car?

Yes, my good man, a valid question. The answer is part of the reason the price is so nice.

A 1988 Lincoln Town Car Signature with 74K on it. It's nice -- leather, digital dash, even a sunroof (you almost never see sunroofs on these cars).

By the way, I kept Laura. Couldn't let my baby go for a pittance. I sold the Cougar XR7 last night for more than I paid for it, and that covers the Lincoln, so I'm in ok shape. Was trying to get down to one car, but didn't want to get rid of Laura to do it, and I think I'd like to enjoy the T-Car for a little while.

Thank God! I was going to smack you silly.

I know, huh? I've really been enjoying driving her around. Somebody on here had it right when they said (in the classified ad): "I can't believe it didn't go for more." That makes two of us. Probably more. Anyway, she stays with me.

Awesome

I will. Buddy of mine took a few when I was on vacation at this great ocean house I go to every year with another friend. Some fine shots. The car is very clean, but when I do detail, I'm going to smoke through a lot of Nevr-Dull chrome polish. Engine bay is about as clean as I could ask for. Speakers are JBL, and of course, attached to a tape deck.

Of course, the car developed an exhaust leak just days after I bought it, and has gotten pretty raucous. After a preliminary peek, I think it might be the flange at the exhaust pipe and the manifold. The car has nearly zero rust, so I have a hard time believing it's a hole in the pipe. We shall see when I get a chance to get under it. Might be an opportunity to pull out the RTV or the JB Weld.

:mad: I hate you... Thats what I have been looking for for a car.. They are just so hard to find in decent shape anymore.. Sounds like its time for some true duals on that thing. Oh and I certainly hope you checked the frame out on that thing.... :blackeye:

Like he would mod a classic car.

Yes, Clayton, I got on the ground and surveyed the scene, as I do with all cars I look at. This one is very clean. It appears to have been garaged most all it's life. I took it out to vacuum it last night and was remarking about the softness of the carpets. They look good in dark blue.

Some truth here -- though it has crossed my mind. Two things: One, I don't want to spend much money on this thing. Two, any exhaust that's noticeable in a car like this takes away from the enjoyment of it. They're supposed to be smooth, quiet cruisers. Loud exhaust takes away from the perception of smoothess and luxury. I would not mind doing something high-flow that was still quiet, though, just to add a few nags.

congrats on the T-car.

Thanks, Mike. You been trying all the usual avenues? Craigslist, autotrader, Ebay? You going to the fall meet?

Hey, how do I post up a picture that I have in Microsoft Photo Editor? Of course, it's not a simple cut and paste.
