yup

There is a $800 v6 98+ tour at Midway Auto for sale.

Went fishing at Pelican Lake today. Total haul was 6 Northerns. I lost 2 cause I suck, wife lost 1 because she had her drag set to high and snapped a line. And if you want to take pics of Pelicans, that is the lake to be at. Them birds be huge.

Lots of stuff. Right now its the alternator. Before it was the starter. Before that the radiator.:nonono: But then.... It IS a Chevy.. Double :nonono::nonono:

get an alternator, we'll slap it in this weekend :) chevy trucks typically last a very long time. typically the tranny is the first thing to go around 100000-150000 miles. an alternator isnt that hard to do. like i said, we can slap on in this weekend if you want. i'll even move the fiero out of the garage :)

And what the heck is a SHO PLUS?

The Plus package included blacked out B-pillar trim, a rear deck spoiler with integrated rear brake light, and a fiberglass hood. I believe it was a PEP (Preferred Equipment Package) code, but can't recall the number offhand.

No one I know in SHO land has ever been able to agree on the numbers, but they're quite limited, and only from 1991.

If that kid wasn't in the cities, I would might actually check out the car.

If that car is all there, clean, rust free, mechanically solid, etc., it could be a great prize. As is the case with many Fords, there's something breathtaking about a SHO. If you can determine that the condition is good before heading down, I'd say it's definitely worth the trip. I believe you would find the car immensely rewarding if it's been taken care of. I know that this was always the case with me, as I pushed odometers on two SHOs to a total of 371,438. Sold the second one with lots of life left, too.

I know the wife wouldn't care if I traded cars as long as I don't add money. I just don't know if I can trade "down" to a car that is 7 years older than mine....granted it does have less miles (mine is up to 139K, up from 125K when I bought it last year), and I am sure it has less dings and dents than mine.

You may find also that you can work with him on the price. I believe his asking number to be high.

SHO reliability is sound. The aftermarket parts situation has improved -- a good thing, since many Ford parts are obsolete. If you look into this car more closely, check on 60K maintenance history. You'll want to know that the timing belt, crank position sensor, cam position sensor, water pump, double platinum plugs and plug wires have all been replaced at some point. The valves should all have been adjusted and the shims replaced as necessary to keep the clearance within factory specs. The car should also be on it's second clutch by now, otherwise, plan for one any day.

Check for slop in the tie rods and control arm / strut rod assemblies. An outer tie rod that needs to be lubrcated at the knuckle will generally let out a telltale screech -- this is often not a sign of failure, but a simple thing that a little grease will shut right up. If the temp gauge reads artificially low, you'll need a temp sender. I'd replace the sensor, too, along with the T-stat and gasket as routine maintenance, unless you can verify that they've recently been done.

If all that stuff checks, you've probably got a winner. Also, a Gen I SHO without trashed leather is a real find.

Now that just sounds like too much work.

Ugh.. On the job hunt again.

Ill have to check out that tour at midway auto. Thats not a bad price. I did look at one there before though that he said, "had a slight front end squeek". I thought the front wheels were gonna fall off. It sounded awful. :nonono:

Guess what Tony just bought :D

You have been using a SE UIM on the cougar? :nonono:

I know! :troutslap: It's all I had, I wasn't going to pay $250 to get an SVT one either. This engine will have all the power it originally had once I get the UIM's swapped.

I picked up the LIM, UIM, and TB from this guy. :D
