Zetec strange engine noise: video inside

I talked to some people at work that recommended a shop in town. Any suggestions as to what to talk to the mechanic about?
make sure they replace the timing belt pulleys and tensioner, not just the belt. you might also see what it would cost to replace the waterpump while they are in there.

Just have them do the waterpump. If they are worth their salt, that would be something they would recommend.

And make sure you let them know that it is a non-interference engine. Just in case, some "wet behind the ears" new mechanic says that the valves are all bent due to the missed timing and chewed up timing belt.

Make certain that they know about contours

Make certain that whom ever replaces your timing belt has done contours before, and has the necessary timing tools. If not go elsewhere.

It'll be well worth your while to do so.

just for clarification the zetec is not an interference engine, just be wary that as the engine gets more mileage on it, carbon can build up on the bottom of the valves and top of the piston and can cause interference. but it is highly unlikely. the timing belt is pretty easy to do on the zetecs and i have read a lot talk about the waterpump. the waterpump is NOT driven by the timing belt. the only dilema the timing belt presents is it covers one waterpump bolt when t/b is installed/has tension on it. if you have the money and want to go ahead, ok. but if money is not plentiful and you stay current on cooling system flushes/exchanges, then i have seen those waterpumps last over 150,000 miles. your call, just be advised it is not run by the timing belt.

I don't remember the timing belt being in the way of any of the water pump bolts on my car . Not sure if the silvertops are different...
