Aluminum sill GB?

i will make up a design of the SVT contour ones if Marty can help me out ...lol

i like the idea the more i think about it...and i realized that it will fill more space and look a little better!

i wanted to get it to say SVT or Contour and build #'s.

if i make them...front will most likely say SVT...maybe SVT contour and the back would have build #'s on them...

I can tell what the pic is. It is a tad blurry but it still looks good, thats why I mentioned it. It would finish off the look. I was not sure if you are still planing on making the rears w/ build #'s and having a GB for that?

Also is that the Saleen Font in your production # pic? It's a little hard to tell. Reason I'm asking is b/c if Marty could upload #'s 0-9 in the saleen font to a CAD file. You would be able to make them for anyone. I know there is alot of ppl that have the Saleen production # on their front bumper. This would be icing on the cake.

Ok, glad you guys feel the same! I thought about this the other night and felt it was necessary to have "Contour SVT" in the sill. I found a font that is really close to the "Contour", its called superfrench in Italics. I will make a CAD file saying "Contour SVT". I will post here shortly when i get it finished.

What about build numbers? Any suggestions to making the sills look better than just a plain number? Or is that enough?

Marty

well, we could put some lines on the sill but it might just look tacky...(i was thinking 2 horizontal lines on either side)

who knows...i think they will look fine just as they are w/o anything else

_Ben

p.s. ill check out that font tonight...thanks

Ok, here it is! Let me know what you guys think. I can always switch the order of the text if need be.

would it look a better if the Contour was bold? or would it just be to thick?

I think the way he has it is... whats the word... PERFECT!!

I can't believe you got it that close! Very impressed Marty very impressed.

I also think it should read Contour SVT, as that is the way Ford has always referenced the car and that is how it is presented in all of the Ford brochures. Plus I think it looks better that way.

I also think it would look good to put the 2 horizontal lines next to the wording. Isn't that how it is on the Focus SVT's? I'll have to ask my brother as he has one.

Edit: I just searched eBay for a picture as it's a little late to call my brother, it appears that they have 3 horizontal lines, but it also just says "SVT". I think these will look much better. I'm definately all about have the production number on the rear sills as well.

That looks swa eet. My preference was SVT Contour, but either works. I think Ben was talking about the stripes to go with the build numbers, and I think it would be good, don't want a huge billet with text right in the middle and nothing else.
Actually something which just came to me. What if the build number was offset to the rear (say) third of the sill. I always like asymmetric layouts. Anyway, that might be getting a little too far ahead just now.

PS I like the thickened text too!

marty...the thicker text looks prefect!

and csvt49...as far as the 3 lines go on the sills, i think that if i do it, it should be on both...and as it is now, i dont think either the front or that back will need them...they will look good regardless

Yes Marty the text looks great.

Ben I agree... I was just thinking if we wanted to try and make it like the existing SVT product sills that would be what should be done in my opinion.

I would prefer having "Contour SVT" only because that is how it is referenced in the Ford SVT brochures. Although SVT Contour would look fine too, I just think it would be nice if we could match the literature that's out there on our cars.

Nice work. Although I have to ask... are those lines raised off the surface or are they grooves? Kind of hard to tell...

Edit: Marty do you want AutoCAD 2004?

Thanks for the offer, but I already have 2007. For some reason I only have 2000 loaded on my home machine.

I should get 2007... but I rarely use AutoCAD these days. I work mostly with Pro/E Wildfire or at home Solidworks. I used AutoCAD a lot at my last job, but even then they were switching to Pro/E.

i think it will look alright w/o the 2 lines...but tomorrow or sunday, i should have a prototype/prototypeS made to show u guys how it turned out!

the only problem with the raised lines are that we would have to use much more aluminium and it would be just going to waste...unless we stamped it...but we can make them cheaper if we keep it all through the CNC machines
