A while ago i wired up my nissan for a system, but never put it in. I took the fuse out to make sure i wouldn't catch anything on fire, and let it sit there for a while. Went to hook my subs and amp in, and the amp didn't turn on. So i thought maybe it was a wiring problem. Since i got a bigger amp than my wiring could take, i went ahead and replaced everything with 4 gauge wiring. And my amp still does not power on.

Any help? The positive cable does work, as when its touched to bare metal it sparks.

did you check the fuses on the amp and on the gauge wire (if you have one there).............im running out of things to tell ya and maybe you should give that amp a kick and see if it starts up  someone chime in on here :help:

The amp fuses are fine, and the gauge fuse is fine.

I would rather not kick it, it was free but its still probably a bit pricey :p

get a volt meter or a light tester and chech the remote and main power wire for power. if you get power from both and you have a good ground you got a nice free paperweight. Enjoy!

Could my rc outputs be bad on my cd player? As a test i went out and bought a brand new amp from walmart, and hooked it all up and it did nothing else. But since the power wire has power, and the ground is properly grounded, i was thinking it could be the rc outputs

is the amp turning on? like a green light or something turning on so you know the amp is actually on? if the rca's are bad wiring or the output on the cd player then ya no sound

No, the green lights not turning on at all. The power wire has juice, and the ground is proper.

Its the only thing i can think of >.>

jump a small wire from the main positive to the remote input on the amp. if it doesnt light up then, your amp is done. the rca's will have no bearing on the amp turning on at all.

So hook the wires up like normal, but put a small wire from the power to the remote turn on? If it works then, whats that mean?

if it works then it means your remote wire is dead. try running a new wire if that doesnt work then your remote wire output on the head unit is dead. you can run a wire from the acc wire on your radio to the amp if that is the case and the amp will turn on/off with the radio.

ok ill try that.

If i have a remote bass gain controller, does it still need the blue remote wire from the head unit?

Dont see any mention of it, but did you check the fuses on the amp itself? If you know your power wire is getting power but are unsure about the remote wire, one way to check is by making a loop out of a 2" piece of wire and connecting it from the power to the remote terminal. DONT leave it this way, its just for the process of elimination.

The fuses looked fine just by barely looking at them, but i shall check them out again tomorrow.

already mentioned a jumper wire to see if the remote wire was dead or not.

and no a remote bass knob has nothing to do with any of this.

I figured it wouldn't make a difference, but never messed with one before.

Ran a jumper wire from the positive to the remote, and the light turned on instantly. The remote wire on my cd player is dead, so easy fix. Attached it to my ignition wire and its fine.

Went inside to get a water, and the light wasn't on..none of the wires worked at all. While i had the light on, the subs still didn't turn on.

Strange?

The amp itself has a light on the top of it, and that lights up when the car is on..but no green light? And no subs work.
